I am in the process of purchasing an 08 Maxima SL. I did not want the platinum package on the car but because of how late it is in the year the dealer cant find me a black on black Maxima one with a wing and moonroof... So if I ant the Max my way I am forced into buying this stupid package.

Here is my question...

Is there anyway to disable the electric seat with memory ? I want to put the seat in one place and leave it there. No moving once the car is shut off or started... A fuse or a plug ?

I plan on keeping the car for awhile and I can see the power seat motor breaking. Each time I turn the key in the car the seat is going to be pushing 200+ pounds back and forth. There is no way that part is going to last 10+ years.

Any help is appreciated...

I want the car and am getting a great deal on it but this is the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger.

Yeah, you can disable the auto seat and wheel retract feature. It's separate from the memory feature, too--so you can still program your two memory positions without having the seat and wheel move every time you open the door.

Thanks for the answer.

How would I do that ? Is there a switch or would I physically have to disconnect something ?

I asked the saleman and he had no clue whatsoever.

It's just an option you can turn on and off. No disconnecting unplugging necessay...it's designed to be selectable.I don't recall exactly how it's done (been too long since I've played with it) but I think it's done through the info screen. There should be instructions for it in the manual. When I get home in a few hours I'll look through mine and see what it says.

The salesman let me look over the manual and it can be disconnected if you have the navigation screen. The car I am about to get does not have this screen. It is an SL with the #1 plat package.

Is your car equipped with that screen ?

My only guess would be to somehow erease whatever saved seat and steering wheel position is stored. This way the computer can't put it into any psoition. I don't know why I get hung up on the stupidest things.

Sorry to be a pain in the *** about this but this is one thing that really bothers me. Stupid Nissan with their option packages. They force you into buying so many useless things.

No, our car doesn't have Nav. ALL maximas have a central information screen in that spot, though. If you don't have Nav it's just a large LCD screen with a backlight, but it serves the same functions for configuring features.

So you can indeed still disable it even with Navigation. I checked the manual to be sure. You can download it here, too: http://www.nissanusa.com/pdf/t...a.pdf

I definitely agree the options packaging is a pain in the behind.
