I'm thinking something is wrong with mine. Running rich, screwy idle, popping sounds on deceleration. Anyway, I took a look at my MAF today, ready to blast it with some carb cleaner. From the pictures I'd seen, there was supposed to be some kind of wire hanging down, but I saw no such thing on mine. It was just a metal tube leading from the air box to the plastic tube leading to the intake manifold.

Am I missing something?

Depends on what year your car is, one model you can see the wire, one model you can't.

Do an OHM test with a multimeter, or check for codes, that would be the easiest way to tell.

Not a good idea.....Use electrical cleaner if you use anything.

uh so why not carb cleaner? residue?

you have to remove the sensor from the collar to see the 2 wires. very fragile!

I'd try to clean the connection near for the mafs near the airbox. Did wonders for me.
