I've notice when I start my G37 when the engine is cold the exhaust is louder then if I start it while the engine is still warm. But as soon as I put it into gear it sounds normal. I was curious to know if this is normal or if it happens with anyone else's car.

I think your exhaust tone just changes because your car hasn't warmed up yet so your engine is "working harder"

Mine does the same thing... I think it sounds cool

But yea as soon as you put it into drive the growl gets muted.

Intakes and Stillen exhaust will give you that nice growl all the time... even more actualy. Not to mention the added hp!!

My exhaust "rattles" when cold... I think its the exhaust tips after checking it out... seems to be while there is condensation in the exhaust it rattles (car also sits revving a little higher at first start, closer to 2krpm, then settles down below 1krpm after a short bit). I'm about to take it in to the dealer cuz I'm annoyed my almost $40k G37 is "rattling" in the morning with only 4300 miles on it...

The idle is set higher when the car is "cold". It helps warm the car/motor/oil up faster. There is nothing wrong with your car.
