More and more I am concerned about the security of a car that I am driving as I put money into it. I am looking for some security devices and I heard about the fuel cut off switch. I would like to know more about it. How does it work? How good is it against thieves? Where can I buy and install it?

You can run a set of leads from fuel pump to hidden switch in cab. When you park car, turn off the switch and the engine will not start. I suggest a push button on/off switch from Autozone or RadioShack. Put it inside the lighter hole in console and replace lighter. No thief will pull out lighter and check for switch. Under the dash and in glove box is not a good place. Do you watch movies? Where do all thieves look? It can be done in less than an hour, or if you live in west Tn I can do for you for $45. Email at bigwheeljohn@yahoo if interested. Also selling some 240 parts cheap and paying shipping. Email at same.

A fuel pump switch is a good idea, I put one in my car, but that still doesn't let me not worry about the car.

It protects the car from being started, but how do you know a shady tow truck driver isn't eyeing it up? Also, if a group of 15 year old brick yielding kids with no respect for other people's property come along they can spot your head unit or whatever and break in and take it, but you know nothing about it. I know a guy who found his driver side window broken, and all they took was his shift knob.

Do the fuel pump kill switch, but definately save some money for a good alarm. Before I spend my money on anything else I am going to buy a top of the line alarm.
