I remember a post(actually a couple) that had talk about electric fans. What would be the best way to do this electric fan conversion. I know about the mod database post but it doesn't give much insight. http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread/341010

I tried to do a search to find this post and failed. I remember 2 ebay links were posted. 1 was for a 350z fan, and the other i can't remember. What was that second item. I'm planning on jumping into this conversion soon. Thank you in advance.

No i remeber that post. It was a part with the fan that would make the fan work. A non ghetto rig way.

just purchase a fan setup from a 05-06. I bet you could bolt it right up and then wire it to the existing electric fan so that it would kick in and out with the thermostat.

It was a relay or some kind of trigger that would kick the fan on at a certain temp. Curse my mechanical fan....

im sure that there is a wire to the motor of the electric fan. Just wire the new fan to that one and get rid of the clutch fam. Im thinking about doing that on my Jeep as i would get about 5% more power out of the motor... 10 HP

There is a way to hook it to a thermostat or something similar. So the fan would kick on at a certain temp point. Instead of always being on.

Then compare your MY G35 to the 05/06. You should be able to track down how the two systems differ.

I'm assuming that the fan on your G is thermostat controlled as well, but instead of it sending electricity to operate the fan, it send electricity to operate the clutch.

Worse case scenario is that you'll have to replace everything from the clutch onwards. Best case is that you can rewire the thermostat directly to the electric fans (not likely).

There is also a company called Flex-a-lite that makes low profile fans and they may be able to help you out with the project.

Last option is to call EverythingG35 and talk to Joe OR call Riverside Infiniti and Talk to Tony.

SbD has pretty much got it right. I had an electric fan on a previous car, and it was wired through a temp sensor that was taped to a radiator hose. Pretty ghetto looking but it worked really well. So the answer is that you can do what you are looking to do.
