?? about check engine light

I tried to search for this but i did not find an anwser. I just got my car less than a week ago and today while i was driving around 9:30 pm, the check engine light lit up. it was the first time i ever saw it during my week of driving. when i started the car i just left without really warming it up to much but it was warm when it lit up. I got to a stop light and i turned the car off and turned it back on, less than 10 secs or so it turned off. I went driving around some more after that, and it did not show up agian. I let it cool down and i started it again still nothing. I am begining to think it was just nothing. Can anyone tell me any reason why it might have lit up? is that common that something like that may happen with nissans? If it helps draw an anwser, i did a smog check on friday and all passed fine, HC levels were very low, 15 at idle and 2 at 2500 rpm. I really hope that this was just nothing. Thanks

Im not sure if the battery had been removed some time right b4 i got it, so maybi the ecu may need to be reset again?

always seems to be 02 sensor, i guess all the other sensors are just made of STEEEEEL!!! moohaha

see the thing is that the light is not on anymore... it just turned off after i restarted the engine. I drove around today and the light did not turn on. its like the light accidently turned on but shouldnt have hehe. so with the light off it wont throw any codes right? . Its wierd tho , but everything seems fine. i just dont know why it lit to begin with.

The ECU stores codes for up to 50 starts of the car, so when you put the ECU in mode 2, the diagnostics mode, it will show all codes stored within the last 50 cranks.

I'm not sure if they're is a site where you can see what codes mean what after pulling them from the ecu, but in the meantime, you could reset your ecu and the light should turn off, and hope it doesn't come back, if so, you should pay close attention to what code or codes are being given.

Thanks for your help guys. Well, ever since i restarted the car the light has not been on since, maybe it was just nothing.
