Ok I'm about to install tomei poncam with 256° IN EX Duration. My questions is I have stock cam gears and would like to know if I should advance the intake one tooth or do I need more. I saw in the exhaust cam swap it did so I thought maybe it would have to be more in this case, I dont want a crazy idle lol

I would stick to putting it straight up. I think it would advance to much. I believe I read somewhere that one tooth equaled 7degrees. On the 248 swap the ex. cam is retarded a little so advancing one tooth I think comes to about 5degrees over stock. Without degreeing the cam I wouldn't try.

Supposedly the PONcams don't need dialed in like normal cams do. This only holds true of the head &/ block haven't been resurfaced. If they have, then technically the cams need degree'd in, and you'll need the cam specs to know where at.

Research degree'd cams, or something like that and you'll find all kinds of info.

this kind of makes Poncams pointless doesn't it? if they need degreeing after a resurface, mind as well get something a tad bigger..but thats just me, and I think most of us have had our heads/blocks resurfaced.

I should say milled, not re-surfaced. If it was simply resurfaced to remove gasket material, then the change in cam timing is so minimal you'd be fine.

If the head/block has been milled/re-surfaced to correct warping (usually from overheating) then it may change the cam timing enough to need degree'd.
