IMHO, this is not essential. Door heights vary between cars and it's impossible to apply a molding that will protect your car from all door dings. If you do want it, I would suggest getting a trim shop that specializes in this product to apply it. Do this with all your accessories before purchasing from the dealer. Many times, it will be much cheaper to get it done by an outside shop.jdog27 wrote:1) Side molding.
There have been several threads about this. Most complaints center around tire and wind noise. Engine noise is non-existent at cruising speeds. IMHO the Rogue is average for the class. It's not the quietest, but it's not annoying either.jdog27 wrote:2) I hear stories about excessive noise inside the car, especially in passenger area.
I think experience varies by dealer. Some have been very co-operative, others have not. The biggest item to date is the door sill scratching (see sticky at the top of the forum). It's still unresolved, but Nissan is working on a solution.jdog27 wrote:3) How responsive has Nissan been to concerns and issues with the Rogue?
Although I do not have Venom Red, the Iridium Graphite hides everything well. Black is probably the hardest colour to keep clean next to Red. Perhaps other owners of Venom Red can chime in.jdog27 wrote:4) How noticeable on Venom Red are scratches, swirls, etc..
I would advise that you get a strip of clear paint protection film installed as described in other posts. 3M and others make this product.jdog27 wrote:Thanks for the replies thus far.
One other question:
Before I pick up my new Rogue should I ask the dealer to fix the rusting problem that people have been having with the bottom of doors. Meaning should I have them put some sort of protector on the door frame so it does not happen.
No dings yet! Just jinxed myself (I park as far away from a store as possible)jdog27 wrote:Hello all!
Well after 5 months of research and test drives I am about 5 days from purchasing a Rogue. I just have a couple of questions that maybe some of the great posters here can answer:
1) Side molding. I've seen a couple of threads on it, but wanted to know how essential people think it is and will a Rogue get really scratched up without it. If it is something that is fairly essential is this something I can get done at the dealer or is it something I have to do myself?
I think it is very quiet ( just put on moon roof deflector), but My music is usually too loud to notice.jdog27 wrote:2) I hear stories about excessive noise inside the car, especially in passenger area. How bad is it really? I am not that sensitive to noise but if it is distracting then I would like to know.
Door sill issue:Have not seen the service manager yet, told my salesman who apparently bought a red one for his wife, and said "thanks" I'm going to stop on the way home and get the clear strips for hers.jdog27 wrote:3) How responsive has Nissan been to concerns and issues with the Rogue?
Mine is gray.jdog27 wrote:4) How noticeable on Venom Red are scratches, swirls, etc..

This is one expense you can skip. I have 15,345 miles on my Rogue, purchased last October 1. There are no dings, dents or scratches on either side, and I live in the Hudson Valley, which is largley rural but which also has pockets of density (like big shopping malls).
2) I hear stories about excessive noise inside the car, especially in passenger area. How bad is it really? I am not that sensitive to noise but if it is distracting then I would like to know.
There's a bit of a hum between 25 and 40 MPH but nothing we object to. We're too busy having fun with the CVT.

I wouldn't know, because I have none.
4) How noticeable on Venom Red are scratches, swirls, etc..
Again, since I have the blue, I don't know. (The blue shows a deep scratch, but Nissan's touch-up paint has a roller that fits the 'groove' from the scratch well enough to hide it pretty well.)
