Just bought my first Z a month ago, but felt like since I'd finally purchased my dream car, it needed a proper introduction. If you like reading, enjoy, otherwise just skip to the pictures!

Is it silly to say I now feel like my life is complete? Ever since I was in high school and I saw a 300ZX for the first time, I knew it was love and that somehow, someway, I had to have one. Back then they were still seriously out of my price range, so it kind of got put on the back-burner. After I graduated I saw a real pretty black '95 for sale at a dealer, and the guy just tossed me the keys and told me to try to keep it under 100 for a quick test drive. Man that Z was sweet, but at $15K it was still too rich for my blood. After a couple years of community college I joined the military and for some reason, even though I finally had the means, the Z had somehow slipped my mind and I purchased a new Hyundai Tucson, followed by a '97 Probe GT (please don't judge me too harshly on that one, it was cheap and I thought they were kind of cool), and then a '06 Civic Si. After getting married I picked up a new '11 Elantra for the wifey, and then sold the Civic, and thats when I realized "hey, this might be the perfect time to start thinking about the Z again..."

I started looking in the Virginia Hampton Roads area, and found a perfect '93 NA with only 39K and all the necessary maintenance with receipts. The kicker was the lady wanted $12.5K for it, and having recently paying off lots of debt, and the wife's unenthusiastic "buy it if you really want it...", I decided to keep looking. I then found this gorgeous '94 with 102K for only $6,300 and I knew she was the one. Didn't even have to sell the wife on it, she was happy that I found one for half the price of the first one I had seen, and I flew down to Tampa and picked it up and drove it home. It's safe to say that I absolutely love this car more than any other I've ever owned, and its not even close. I have lots of plans for it, but unfortunately being married with a little girl, funds are limited, though I've slowly been making money on the side and saving that up for my "Sophia" (come one, we all name our cars right?).

Anyway, if you're still reading this, I haven't quite decided if I should go cosmetic or performance first, but seeing as it is a NA, I'm thinking cosmetic (fyi it had its timing belts done at 72K, so I'm good for a little while). I really like the '99 JDM taillights and the front fascia, so I'm thinking those will be some of the first things I'll go for. I just painted the third brake light (thank you Z-Owned for your helpful post), and even though the paint of the car is in great shape, its got little scratches and nicks that drive me crazy. I've been thinking about possibly taking it to Maaco and getting a halfway decent spray, because I know the $3k paint job is at least a few years away. My friends tell me not to sweat it, that its not really noticeable, but its probably safe to say that any Z owner feels like they stick out like a sore thumb.

Before I wrap up just wanted to say I really love this forum and I've been reading it for quite awhile, and I promise I'll not make any future posts so long!

First, Welcome to NICO!

Second, Don't worry about thinking you post to much, naturally some members will read it some won't but chances are they will when they have time... I like when new members give us a little back ground info, I feel like it makes them become part of the NICO family faster.

Third, I think you should buy Jspecs ASAP since they are a direct bolt on, no paint, no fuss just a couple 10mm nuts and its done.

Fourth, The Z looks beautiful.

Fifth, I love the signature. I loled.

Welcome!!

I liked the story and yes I read the whole post lol

The Z looks really clean and well cared for. And yes, we always think we stick our like a sore thumb because we do. I usually have people in cars that cost 5x what mine did staring as they drive by and mine isn't even that great looking (but it is red! haha)

When thinking about upgrades, the best upgrades by far for an NA are suspension.

Btw, how do you see past the sub box when your looking in the mirror?!

Beautiful Z man. Welcome to your new love-hate relationship (if you don't know yet, you will) lol. As for performance vs aesthetics, since you've got a NA and since it is your daily (so I assume you don't plan on tracking it too often) You would do best to leave "performance" alone as you will spend unreal money trying to squeeze an extra 10-15hp out of her. If you like the Jspecs, get them (they are a great addition to any Z) if you see an exhaust you like or just want the sound than get it but always keep in mind that you are doing it for style's sake not for hp because NAs just don't respond to power mods. Either way welcome to the family, take care of your Z and she'll take care of you.

I never realized how big the box looks in photos, but its really doesn't affect my vision at all in the car. I do like your box for your sub tho, that looks really clean. And if you really want a laugh, I had a '95 Probe GT first, sold it, and bought a '97 a couple years later. The '95 treated me good, the '97 ended up being somewhat of a lemon.

z32 is timeless just some people have moved on. for everyone thats moved on there 2 more to take their place its a disease... 4 real. i could count how many cars in the 90s have a cult following like the z32 does its not that many.

90s ford mustangs havent aged as nicely as the z32. z32 looks like it came out yesterday still and a TT can still beat most new cars.

Nice car OP, take care of it! I can relate to your situation, the Z32 is my dream car. While in high school, while waiting at a dealer with my dad whose car was in for maintenance, an older man rolled up in a silver Z32 and told me to be patient and that at some point I'd have a Z32. Right after college, I made sure to fulfill the dream and have been enjoying the love-hate relationship for 2 years now...if only she could get out of storage already!

Great lookin car, welcome to Nico.

Cosmetic enhancements can be fun, but you can still have performance fun in an NA. Look toward suspension and brake upgrades, then you may want to consider basic power upgrades as well.

Welcome to NICO! +1 to what Tony said. Suspension is where it's at in an N/A. Makes the car way more fun.
