Just something interesting I noticed on the Murano site, a guy is angry that his 04 transmission died on him, Nissans says replace it, and Aamco Transmission in Chicago is offering to rebuild it for 3500 bucks. I wonder if they actually have the ability to re-build or are just overconfident and hurting for business?

If they were able to rebuild it that would be a nice sense of comfort for CVT owners who are no longer on warranty, including myself in another 3.5 years. Having to replace a blown CVT transmission is the biggest sticking point I have with this vehicle, if you ever do have troubles down the line it's unreasonable to have to spend at least 5000 bucks to replace a transmission. 3500 isn't cheap either, but at least it's a little better.

Seems at that price he could just buy one from Nissan.

Can they actually "rebuild" them, I wouldn't trust it. I'd go to the parts yard and find one.

Also most U.S. states offer some protection if a part has been replaced because it's defective and becomes defective again in the future (time and mileage may apply).
