OK I have no idea what it is called or what it does - all I know is that it is an emissions item so I am allowed to remove the AACV under my class' racing rules.

I am changing long blocks and I have removed all the hoses and valves from the intake plenum - can I just plug the holes on the box coming out of the block under the thermostat housing or should I bypass it back to the intake hose in front of the throttle body? What is that box anyway, what does it do, should I expect any adverse affects from removing the AACV? (EGR was long gone)

The Iacv/aac valve is so the car will idle. You dont want to remove that if you desire to have that function. The black box I think your showing[hard to tell] is the PCV baffle I think. I wouldnt recommend removing that either.

Thank you for the reply. Seems like a lot of complication to enable the engine to idle. There has got to be a simpler way.

It would seem to me that the IAA unit is the main means of idling. The IACV and AACV seem to be there to assist cold idle. Can I at least eliminate the IACV and AACV and just run the IAA unit to the intake?

Yeah I believe that is PCV related - I am just going to run that to my catch can then, I don't need crankcase waste gases going through my intake.

You could try but being your car is computer controlled and dependant on those valves It may have a problem running at peak performance. There is an eisier way, go carburated, change out the intake manifold with a D21 manifold with throttle body and mount a carburator on it.

Hmm, OK guess I will keep it just seems like a lot of stuff to maintain. This is on a race car so any of that stuff that can be eliminated makes maintenance easier - the less stuff to remove, replace, get in the way the better.

SCCA IT rules wouldn't let me change the fueling method - if I get going well enough in IT I will move to Production classes and then I can use the carb.

Thanks for the replies.
