Hey guys, i was working on my car again last weekend and tried to fully understand the AAC air process. As the solenoid allows 10% of the full cycle, it should drop the RPM when i unplug the connector, but nothing changed when i unpluged, so i'm guessing solenoid is broken Will clean it up help? Or replacing is my only wayThanks alotBTW, i used some dielectric grease on it, didnt work

cleaning it will definitely help..... Ive noticed whenever i unplug my IAC, the RPM goes down and when i plug it back in, i can almost hear more air going through it...

I think if memory serves i used oven cleaner and then rinsed it out with brake parts cleaner, but try brake parts cleaner first.

If the bypass screw has been turned open more than OEM spec, the idle won't drop when you unplug it. Very common to raise idle and cover up dirty intake issues. Don't assume the valve is bad!

As Heath stated, the adjustment screw might have been turned too far to compensate for some other problems.

The service manual has the procedure to adjust idle speed.
