Hey guys!! Well next couple weeks gonna be doing wheel upgrade. So I figured to fill the space I would get bbk as well. Well looked all over the place and dealer wants $900 for OEM all 4 Akebono calipers. So I figured just get used and be cheaper well for some reason every person over price used Akebono calipers over new dealer price. So I was on the we and found a1 cardone actually has reman Akebono calipers 4 piston and 2 piston only thing is they come Un-painted they are around $100 bucks each lol. But wonder how well they would hold up. Has anyone try reman Akebono's?

I am curious about this myself... I met a guy on the forum in CT to buy my 19" OEM M Wheels and he had the BBK with GTR wheels, my god it looked so incredible; this is a must have mod if you have wheels.

Yes it is a must have in my opinion for the M. But the used market on Akebono's are extremely over priced. I'm gonna see if I can get a hook up on the remanufactured BBK and see how they hold up.

it's more of a look thing, like wheels are

They did a test on a 350z with oem brakes vs Akebono's and the difference was only 7 feet. :tisk:

Get them used as they are tooo much new.

Having said that Freddy, is there any difference between the Akebono's and Brembo's off the 350Z/G35 Coupe?

I think I read that the G35 won't fit the M unless you get a custom bracket made in order for the caliper to fit.

Only the G37 will bolt on the M's, rear shield will need to be trimmed

Most are looking for total cars at salvage yards.

WOW that is cheap for those Re-manufactured akebono brakes, all you we would need is get the rotors and pads.

Sold my Vossen's last night (VVS 085's), was a sad sight (going on a 2008 GS350)... BUT now I will have a little extra cash to get my wheels powder coated AND hopefully buy and install the BBK. My plan was to have my factory 19's and these remaned Akebono's powder coated at the same time. I am pretty new to this idea so please chime in if this sounds like a bad idea (some websites say it is fine and others say not to). I would then buy some akebono decals and install them myself (and spray paint them with a high heat clear coat). Thoughts?

Yea man, you should give it a shot and report back. I'm sure the OP and most of us would like to know and save money instead of getting the OEM ones.
You will need spacers cuz the 19" sport rims will not clear BBK.

Also here is a link for the Akebono decals

So these don't require any additional brackets, etc.? Just four calipers, four rotors, and four sets of pads for a complete brake upgrade for roughly $550 or so? When search for pads/rotors, what car would you search for in order to make sure it works with the Akebono's?

If they are truly like the OEM Akebonos I would say a G37

I would double check the price, everything for $550 is really cheap.

It may be $550 for calipers only :gotme

Someone above said they were about $100 a piece for the calipers...(rebuilt Akebono's) + BrakeMotive rotor/pad kit for $150 or so and you have $550'ish...maybe I just misread lol. :rotfl

Those calipers are remanufactured BBK, brakemotive will not fit.
You will need to get G37 rotors, pads etc..

What I meant is brakemotive kit for the G37...that's why I asked what model car one would search for in terms of rotors and pads...

I have no idea if Brake Motive makes stuff for the G37. I'm just thinking out loud here...

But has anyone noticed, they only advertise the calipers for the right side, both front and rear.

Well I found another place that is selling the Akebono calipers, both right and left front and rear. I think I might order from here, all that would be needed is to powder coat them.
