Very nice. I always heard it could be done, but I think that is the first time I have seen it. Good Job!!

of course it can be done, Nissan did it. My freind has the ZR31 model, it amazes me how a straight six can seem more cramped than a V6 in that body:confused: You went with a much better engine than the early RB20DEt though you should have a lot of fun with that.

It's weird though MadScientist.. it's actually alot less cramped than the V6 was for some reason. Not sure if you can really see it in the pictures, but there's actually alot more free space. Of course, it could be the absence of all the EGR/AC stuff, but it just seems like there is more room now.

Engine came out today for bay painting, cleaning, and installation of the Greddy manifold, so shouldn't be too much longer now.

What I am complaining about is mainly what a PITA it is to route intercooler piping. The OE intercooler sits right on top of the engine and I understand why! I couldn't see any way do get a decent FMIC in that body without rearranging the radiator and AC core. If it was my car no problem but my boy gets nervous when I stare at his car while holding power tools:pface

Nonsense! That's why I went with the Greddy manifold.. not only is it huge, and cleaner than stock, it also provides easy pipe routing to the FMIC. Drop the stock radiator for a $300 Koyo aftermarket, and ditch the A/C if you want. Everything fits easily. The only concern we have is the stock OEM air dam not being really efficient for flowing the air, in which case I may have to go with an aftermarket one or do some front airdam "trimming".

I'll post pics when the FMIC goes in so you can see how it will be routed and how snug it is.

What was the clearance like with the VG in there before (behind and in front of the motor)? I was looking at a Z32 VG today and thinking that a RB would be pushing the length limit of that car... was that the case with yours?

With the VG30ET in there, it was pretty much filled completely. There was a little room on the sides, but not much room. It sat just about flush with the firewall, and enough clearance in the front for the clutch driven fan. There -seems- to be more room with the RB25 in there than the VG30ET. Might just be because all of the extra stuff like EGR, A/C, etc is now gone..

Good question... I'll try to get a side-by-side photo shot between a stock engine car and mine.
