I got my differential gears welded with help of a friend and am about to put it back together with rest of the diff.

When I tried to put the differential gear back into the diff case, I realized that I only have 1/3 inch thick ring, 1/6 inch thick ring and a shim. Do I have everything necessary for the assembly or am I missing something? I am thinking I might be missing another outer race. Or could the 1/6 inch thick ring be the other outer race?

What do you think?

when i welded my friends diff last weekend, when we took it off it had a big ring and small ring on the left, and a small ring on the right. your deff. missing the other ring. you were supposed to have 3 total, 1 big and 2 small. then you also have 2 bearing races, and 2 bearings.

Thank you so much for the reply. Is this what you mean? 2 outer races and 3 shims: TOTAL 5 rings? If that is what you are saying, I only have 3 out of 5 materials...

no what im saying is there is 1 thick ring, 2 thinner rings, 2 bearings and 2 bearing races that are tapered on the inside(side that goes against the bearing) you gotta hold the bearing races to the bearing, and also have to make sure the rings stay in place while putting the carrier back in. if you dont hold the races right they will get out of wack.sorry for any confusion.here we go, this picture shows everything.
