A way to know your motor is from the front clip that it's said to be?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

Is there a way to find out through engine codes and VIN plates or something to know that the motor that allegidelly came out of my front clip actually has?

I'm thinking of putting an order for an R32 Skyline front clip from http://www.tigerautoparts.com . They have a couple for $3,900. Talking to the guy there he said due to US Customs regs. they have to take the motor and transmission out before they ship in order to enter the US.

Is there a way to know upon delivery that the motor really did come out of the fron clip sent? I worry about some avg. junkyard clip and a motor out of some pile being sent... ya know what I mean?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks Joe. Very helpful!

Yes I am new here so to speak. I don't post unless I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Usually through searching and reading I will find what I am looking for...

I in fact do know a bit about mechanic-ing as I have been building and racing my own stuff for years. However I'm not very familiar with the RB26 so I am looking and calling different places to see what their deal is and isn't. I also do read and search for feedback & just all around customer satisfaction, etc...

If you can read too... And I'm certain you can I expect you would find the emphasis of my question being not who to buy from, as I can read and can form my own opinions, but rather how would one tell if one of these motors was in fact from the front clip it was claimed to be, regardless of who I bought from.

And yes, thank you much!

Curious though... As in many instances where some can look up a... oh say a 396 big block chevy engine block casting number and see if it 'matches' the VIN for there old Chevelle they're 'restoring'... bla bla bla ya know what I'm sayin...?

I haven't seen this type of number/code look up spoken of much in this community. Looking for just that info I feel I haven't really found much to tell me either way if or how it's easily done if at all.

This specifically would come in handy for those vendors such as these Tiger Japanese folks.... That's all I'm sayin I guess. If I've looked past this type of info or haven't found it yet and it is just right there for me to see I must say I'm sorry for my ignorance. I haven't run across it yet...

Thanks for the recomend. I've gone to ever site dealing in 'clips' that I've found on many of the forums I lurk and read at. It seems I should of moved on this idea when I first had the thought a couple years ago. It seems the pool of possibilities has gotten smaller in some regaurds...

Thanks though! I'm still looking and shopping! Russell

JDM Engine Zone is where I bought my front clip. The car came with a vin plate. I also downloaded a program call NissanFAST which shows you the color, build date, illustrations and part numbers of your car. It's kinda like Courtesyparts.com but better because you can look up any car made by nissan.

The reason why you haven't found anything, is because in Japan they do not have VIN #'s like we do in the US.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM!!! unless you wanna get ripped off..i recently bought an rb20det complete motor set for 1300 got it in my s14 an didnt start up it had about 20 to 30 compression on each cylinder. They say they test before ship but they dont.i called them up an they didnt wanna work with me because my 30 day warranty was up an it was only 60 days till i could get the motor in. motor was bad,ecu was fried! so i got another motor and swap is almost done just waiting for an ecu in the mail but overall i herd a lot of bad storys from them an through my experience..never again from them

Rodger that. So there is no identifying numbers on whatever they call the info on their manufacturing ID plates that correlates specific engine casting numbers to body numbers...

Okiedokie! That pretty much answers my question, as I haven't found anything to the contrary as of yet... Thanks a bunch.
