Actually, I would be VERY concerned if $7,000 damage to the front exclusively did not pop the air bags.
In my accident, I was a Versa sandwich. Hit by a Ford truck, pushed into a Chevy SUV (the biggest one they make, at that). I had damage on both ends, totaling just shy of $8000. The bulk of the damage was to the rear, but I still took about $2500 to the front. The airbags did not pop in that case because when I hit the SUV, I was moving at a speed lower than the threshhold for the airbag trigger (usually 17 mph on most cars). To be traveling fast enough to cause that much damage to the front, one of three things happened...
1) You hit at more than 17 mph, but by some miracle hit in one of only a few select places on the front that will NOT trigger the airbags (there are usually 4 or 5 on any car, and they are SMALL)
2) You hit at 16 mph, and at just the right angle to catch one crumple zone dead-on.
3) You hit at more than 17 mph, but your airbags did not deploy.
If you have the time/desire, have your Nissan dealer (or your body shop, if they are equipped) download the data of the collision from your ECU or BCM. Most new cars are equipped with "black box" telemmetry, and you can find your speed at impact, and your delta-V (change in velocity due to impact). Some can even tell you how many G forces the impact exerted.
