i have the stock stereo for a 2.5 and the a/v jack is coming out distorted. I replaced the cable and tried other ipods and it's definately the jack in the stereo. Can I just replace the a/v outlet or do i need whole stereo head unit. If i need a whole new unit then I'm just going to wait and buy a nav unit but I wanted to finish the exterior first. any ideas? thanks

Make sure the cable is in all the way. Push hard.

I had this issue, and I thought it was the cable. I replaced it and it stillhappened....I thought...WTF.....

Then I pushed the cable into the jack really hard and it worked fine. Make sure it's in ALL the way. It seemed like I had it in all the way but I didn't atfirst. I was suprised that I could push it in more.

If that doesn't solve it you might have a bad connection in the jack...oryour ipod.

or you could just make a trip to the stealership and then make them fix it.

Can you define distorted? When I first plugged in my mp3 player, I used a mono cable and it sounded bad. Took me a while to figure it out... Once i switched to a stereo cable, all was good.

i have been using this cable for a year now witho problems. eberything worked great. Now all the sudden when it is on it sounds distorted. The music sounds weird. it sound like something from a horror film. the base is off and the treble is just weird lol its hard to explain. I will most likely bring it to the dealership but if its not covered under warranty I would rather put that money towards a new head unit. Everything with the stereo works fine except the jack connection. I bought a new cable, that wasn it. Also i've used other ipods and they sound the same (all distorted).

Have you tried different EQ setting on your iPod? Mine sounds distorted when the volume is all the way up, but otherwise pretty good.

Try using a different cable, and then using a different ipod/mp3 player to make sure it's not something you own causing the problem.

I would say check the cable first, make sure it plugs in all the way, if that isn't it then check the settings on the ipod (voulme, EQ etc.) Then if all else fails call your dealserhip and make them fix it

its the jack.... just bring it by the dealer and tell them to give you a new radio to fix the problem.

I'm confused, I have never heard of a mono cable before, aren't all headphone jack cables the same?
