I flew to NZ last week to attend two of many memorials for Jonah Lomu who passed 11/18 from a kidney disease he had been fighting for years. He was the youngest ever (19) to be signed by the Allblacks, holds the record for highest number of tries (goals) in rugby history, and became the first super star and ambassador for rugby world wide. Myself and some mates from US Rugby (USARL) were graciously offered an invite to represent ruggers from the US at his high school and at an IRB function in his honor. I never met the man but he inspired me among countless others to play a sport and be our best on and off the pitch. There will never be another Jonah. If you have never heard of Jonah, he was 6'5", weighed 260 pounds, ran 100m in 10 seconds, and entire stadiums erupted the second he came into contact with a rugby ball because they knew magic was about to happen.
