Since you want to race the J (I know I do), have you ever thought about removing the rear seats & other forms of weight reduction? I'm not making fun or anything; but it was just a thought.

To all others, is it possible to do a weight reduction on the J without any major issues?

Dang...I've just been punked.

Seriously, would weight reduction on a J30 gain anything in the performance department? I was thinking of dropping it to @ least 3,200 lbs. My friend's '06 Eclipse (GS trim non-Spyder) weighs around that much, & that thing will fly. If a 162 HP 4-cyl. can do that to a car, then surely a 210 HP V6 can handle it...

The passenger seat weighs alot more then the back seat, if you pulled out the passenger seat, rear seat, spare tire, radio dash, a/c, battery for a lightweight one you will save almost 200 pounds if your lucky.

lol a thread dedicated to me. My J is doing fine so far, I raced an 06 EVO. We got up to 120MPH, but I didnt want to die so i let him go lol. I went to my first car meet btw. They were suprised the J had 210 HP, and RWD. If you want pics tell me. Like 3 WRX's, a Supra, 1JZ SC430, and more

Wow NY is dangerious for drivers, Because of the NEW DRIVERS that are insane going 120 MPH. How are the shocks, tires, and brakes are they rated and ment for that speed?

Wow dude you just got your licence don't lose your life man.

But if you lose the door panels and sound deading material that might make up for 50+ pounds.

But in all seriousness, I like to see a fast stock (In the form of everthing there interior wise) than a gutted rocket, sure it looks fast but what girl would get in it?

Street racing=LAME

Doesn't get you in a girl's pants, that's for sure. Just gets you in jail, no car, & a bunch of gay guys wanting to hit on you.

You gots guts bro. But why an EVO??? How far did you keep up with it? & 120 on the streets is excessive...that would have landed you in jail for sure; no warnings provided.

& was this "meet" an actual car show, or was it just a whole bunch of people parked in front of Wal*Mart mimicking The Fast & The Furious? Post pics please.

haha kind, except they are all anti-rice. The racing was on a highway, everyone else was going 85 in a 60, so 120 wasnt that fast over the other speeds, and i did it where there arent any cops. Pics.1JZ swapped SC300

If you can still find one...those cars are hard to find...

But you're going to keep the J, aren't you? I hope so.

If you can't handle the J in "accidental power slide" drifting, then there's no way in hell you can handle a Supra. They are in a league by themselves.

Wow, there's a lot of stupid in this thread.

'Only' doing 35mph faster than 'everyone else' doesn't make it ok. Kids...

An Evo will eat your face, so why bother? Your shocks, brakes, tires...pretty much everything in your car, are old and shouldn't be pushed to the limits. You know what happens when you go over those limits at 'only' 120 mph, right? "Oh a tire blew out because it's 4 years old and only rated for 95 mph, sorry I smashed into your family in their minivan. Are they ok? No? My bad. But dude I was on this Evo's ***! He was only like a quarter mile ahead of me!"

And coolyun, you think a stock-*** J30 will 'stand up with Jap monsters?' Really? Dude, NA 300zxs are slow in comparison to anything that's considered quick these days. And the J is slow compared to a Z. You can buy like a four year old Accord V6 that will outperform the J30 all over the place. An Accord. Pull your heads out of your asses. I can't believe you did 120mph down the highway in a tank-*** J30 and bragged about it. Get over that ****, and fast.

Reduce weight in a J30? That's failure. If you want a racecar buy a G35 or a 350Z. . . don't race your J .

Fail.

+1

I always thought you just said dumb stuff nala, and you're now doing it too. 120mph????!!!!!??? Dude what are you thinking.... The only place (and i mean the ONLY) place 120 is ok to do is on a closed track. No questions period....

Dude, hold your temper, that was a RHETORICAL statement. If I truly think J will stand up to those cars, I would NOT describe those cars as MONSTERS. Further, DID YOU READ MY 2nd POST in this thread???

IF YOU CAN NOT READ, MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT POST ON THIS FORUM AND DRIVE YOUR J.

Heed your own advice. If by rhetorical you mean sarcastic, then I apologize. It's all just letters in the world of the internet, so sarcasm doesn't always come through. It came off as you encouraging nala to race like that, which I don't really dig. I didn't connect the second post as being the same guy, my bad.Oh, and I can read. And drive. I bet I even have the mad skills to hold the gas pedal down until the needle hits 120. Pretty good, huh?

Nah, it's cool man. Didn't mean to call you stupid, really. Like I said, since I couldn't tell you weren't serious, I took it that you were. I feel the same way when NA Z guys are like, "Oh my car car is sooo fast! I'm going to stomp my friend's _____!"Then a week later they want to sell it for a TT because they found out that a mid-15 second 1/4 mile isn't the fastest thing on the block.

I mean, my 15 year old luxury cruiser pushing 210hp when it was brand new should be able to at least compete with a 290HP car that is almost brand new, right? A J should be able to hang with a 4 second 0-60 time, right?Wait a second...where'd he go?

BINGO.

I pick my prisoners with caution.

Learned to drive in a 68 Camaro SS that ran low 13's. The J just isn't meant to be a screamer.Mines a DD that I plan on going to 300 K with .Easy going with a once a week 2nd gear carbon blow out redline session.

5 or six 2 to 7 K rpm revs then drive it on home.

Per q45techs specs.

On a way back unused back road of course

Get the Cows attention though lol

Exactly man,

I drove my friend's 2000 bone-stock Mustang v6 (not v8), what I can say is that J is a graceful lady and Mustang is one sexy chick you jusy want to rave her all nite

In other words, J is as slow as a corolla. I doubt it will handle better than a corolla.

Please don't race on open public roads. You are not only putting your own life in danger but the lives of others. There are plenty of tracks around North America. Most will let you race for a small fee.

I agree.

For me, $15 race fee (including waiver) > $350+ speeding ticket. That doesn't even include court costs & insurance rates increase.

Besides, the track is where the real action is (read: girls & engines).

Nala, you have a lots to learn, my friend.
