Well i was thinking i seen a wrecked versa in a local yard and have very good knowledge of the spec-v QR25 seeing how i have helped my buddies boost and rebuild and replace about 10 of them now, it is a very good 6 speed trans and descent hp engine ,the only thing is the exhaust is in the front and intake in the back and the motor mounts look close but would need some modifying Wouldnt a 175 all motor hp versa just be sick?

Its the matter of the time and money being worth it when compared to just buying a faster car.

8k isn't a lot of money? Spending $8,000 for 53 hp is stupid and not worth the time and money. 2 big issues with this particular swap.

1. It's never been done. You're bound to run into problems during all phases of the install and tuning. That'll cost more money and time. You don't know what's compatible between platforms, the different measurements involved, e.t.c.

2. The aformentioned cost to money ratio. It's one thing to swap an SR into a 240. You get much more bang for the buck. It's also another if you get a better platform to work with(D series to B series).

Not sure the QR25 is any better for tuning than the MR18. I mean, do we even know if the pre-catalyst issue was resolved with the QR25? Maybe if it were something like a FWD VQ swap or FWD SR swap into the junk Versa. Definitely not worth it to swap into a good, non junk V.

The QR is a turd. Surely you can find something better to spend time and money on.

The reason the 6 speed is so good is that it came from the VQ-powered Maxima. The Sentra benefitted from that one, for sure.

could look into b15sentra.net, a few members there have done a vq swap into the b15 specv. i think last i checked, the swap was priced at around $5.5k and it looked stock. but the guy who first did it had to fab up a lot of components to match up.

i'd hafta agree that to do a SR swap and upgrade it to a SR20DE(+T) would probably be better, as its a more reliable engine. or possibly do a top end swap (ala: civic/teg LS?), the MR20DE supposed to match up with the 18, and there may be more aftermarket support for the sentra engine.

perhaps if nissan were to come out with a SE-R / specV type versa, it may be more likely to have the MR20DE tuned...

Here's a thought. Buy a damn Sentra SE-R Spec V and have 200 HP and a transmission designed to take advantage of that 200 HP and also already have a sport suspension, big wheels, and big brakes! And spend less than hacking up a perfectly running tall bloated econocar! Wow! Why didn't I think of that?!
