A/T transmission Control Unit. Do we need it?

So on my project car, i ahve everything gutted on my s13 hatch and I am in the process of rewiring and major wire tuck. The car was originally Automatic and im doing the 5spd swap and i noticed over the ECU, theres a control unit for the A/T transmission. Do i still need this unit? or is there a M/T one that needs to be swapped for it. I know the #25 ECU has to be swapped for a #24 i think but what about this one. Its a silver Unit.

lol, have you done this before and do you have any pics of what you did. If the unit is not gonna be used, i wanna clear out the useless wiring too.

I haven't done it myself but there is a thread at the top of this page that should give you all the information that you need.

If you're removing the auto trans and all it's componentry, you won't need the ATCU. If you plan on retaining cruise, however, you may or may not need it.

no, the cars gonna be a semi track car and im taking out all the luxury. Can i cut all the wire from the blue harness that connects to the ATCU and remove them or would that be a bad idea.

If it was mine i would just unplug it and leave the harness alone.

too late. last night it went under surgery. i mean if it doesnt work, then it doesnt work, ill just buy a main harness from a 5spd car. btw, anybody selling one. I would rather just buy one now but cant find one.
