i read in another site a way for g35 with a/t trans to reverse the tiptronic shift... open up your center console and look for a gray wire and dark green wire( there is a light green ) on the side of the shift knob.... simply cut the wires and put green and gray together on both ends... pushing will now give a downshift and pulling an upshift in gears... real easy... i have done this in less than 5 mins.... will post some pics soon...

if you have seen touring races, you would notice that pushing on the tiptronic would result in a downshift... i'm just providing an option for guys like me who prefer pulling as an upshift...

I completely share your desire to change that. I have a 6mt, so it doesn't matter, but driving a loaner in tiptronic annoys the hell out of me. It just seems WRONG.

Hey thanks for the advice I really hate pushing up to shift up and would prefer to have it reversed, I may have to try that.

Has anyone else tried this mod? Was there any problems afterwards? I would like a little more info before I start cutting wires, but think this would be a great fix to a bad design.

I was thinking about this earlier, would it not be easier to just swap the input terminals in the AT control device connector?

av8or you stated you would be posting pictures. Would love to see them. Also, what are the steps to safely removing the console. I dont want to force anything and break anything. Thanks for the help, all.

Ok so I do not have pics but I managed to grab some ESM pics to direct you along this mod. I will add this to the articles page for future use as well.

First off to remove the shifter assembly.

-Pull the shift boot,or cover (depending on the year) down to expose the retaining clipNote: Be very careful when removing this clip as they can go flying into tiny little crevices and take hours to find.

-Remove the shifter knob.

-Set the parking brake, and put the gear selector in "N"

-Using a small screwdriver gently pry on the housing to release the locking prads.

-Carefully pull up on the console lid.

Modifying the shifter connector

-Carefully pull the white connector forward to release it from its locked position.

-Now you will need to release the locking connector from the male/female end of the connector.

-Using the wiring diagram provided locate terminals 7(Purple/Red) and 8(Green)

-Now you will need to use a very small implement to release the locking mechanism in the connectors and carefully remove them.

-Once the wire are removed the switch their position.

Once this is completed reassemble the connector and dash in reverse order from above.

Note: Be VERY careful when reinstalling the shifter lid cover as the small aligning tab on the shifter can be broken very easily and it will not fit correctly.

If anyone is curious I have added this to our DIY library. Shifter Mod

sorry buddy... been busy with work lately... didn't think anybody would be interested... anyway here are some pics as requested...

1. pull this "thing" down...

2. remove this lock after which you can safely remove the gear shifter handle by pulling it up..

3. and remember to put your gear to neutral so you can remove the console..

4. gently remove the console by pulling up from the rear..

5. put the console to the side as shown... don't worry, there is enough slack from the wires to do this..

6. look for these wires located on the right side of the shifter.. a green and a gray one.. disregard the brown wire

7. cut both wires and switch connections (both green to gray)...then "tape" them up...here is what they look like after "the operation"

your are done.. put back the console and enjoy.. now PUSH IS DOWN AND PULL IS UP...

Nicely done.

Smells like a good title. Maybe shift master. hehehehe

I am happy the way it shifts but good to know there is an option.

Well, I did it and I love it. Although I have seen a few negative side effects......Decreased gas mileage and increased brake and tire wear. Thank you for the responses and pictures. Will someone tell Infiniti!
