I'm in the market for a 2005 G35x and I have a question about RDS on the two stereo options (Bose & non-Bose). From what I've seen, both stereos support RDS. That being the case, do they both have the ability to show the name of the artist / song being played while listening to FM radio (obviously assuming that the station is broadcasting the information). I looked at the owner's manual, and it didn't really indicate whether or not it did. Both of my current cars display that information, and I find it quite handy.

Also, does anyone have any comment about the difference between the two systems, in terms of sound quality.

Thanks for the help! Oh, and heck, if you know where I can get a good deal on a n '05 G35x let me know!

I have the non-Bose system and I have yet to figure out the RDS so my guess is no, it is not capable (I've tried stations that have worked on other cars).

In terms of sound quality, a lot of people who complain have the Bose and that's mainly because Bose sucks at automotive sound systems. I have had several people ask me if my system is stock or not, a few have asked more than once. I like it myself, but would still go to aftermarket because that's what I've done with every other vehicle I've owned. I've come to the conclusion that selling Bose systems in cars is just a way to get top dollar out of a name, for all manufacturers. They just need to stick to their home systems and headphones.

My 06 G35 Sedan has the Bose with the Factory Sirius Radio. I don't listen much to FM with Howard Stern on now 24/7 on Sirius channel 100 but some FM stations in the NYC market do transmit RDS. Some stations only send their call letters and other stations send call letters, song title, and artist. Not all FM stations transmit RDS. You'll have to check in your market perhaps by going to a few automotive audio stores & checking out the different radios & tuning in your local stations.I was kind of upset after purchasing the factory Sirius radio & discovering that the satellite radio doen not scroll the channel ID, song title, and artist yest the FM radio does for some stations.

The G35 6speed manual is a far superior vehicle in handling and performance over the G35X. The automatic is a 5 speed vs a 6 speed manual. The MPG is much worse on the G35X.

I have a 2007 Coupe 6MT and with the RDS on it does display the name of the station, the name of the artist, and the name of the song. It is irritating that the screen is so small cause it will spell e-v-e-r-y word out, but it does help when you want to know whos behind a track.

As far as the Bose system it is decent...no lows though. But if you add some 8's or 10's it will definitely sound better. I prefer a single isobaric Kicker 8 in the truck and keeping the dash looking stock.

By the way if you remove the Bose system you lose the Bluetooth. so consider if you are looking to upgrade.
