Hello guys,

I'm new here although I was quite aware of Nico and been browsing over the years that I've been working on Nissans. Anyway I decided to join the forums and ask you guys for some advice, I may have technical questions later on but currently just one simple question to you guys that might help me decide in which direction should I work on this project.

Five years ago I bought a really bad Z32, the rust on it was terrible so I just sold the most stuff I could and actually earned money on it, well all I got left was the chassis and interior. Now I decided to put it to some use cause I don't fix cars anymore and thought I might make a nice drift car build or something.

Now the question to you guys, I thought of making either a drift car, make it lighter and what not, or a R390 replica (keeping it FR layout unfortunately), or making it a 300ZX IMSA replica.
I'm no drifter, I did try to learn drifting on a S14 but never bothered improving myself, mainly cause I had no time for this. Now track racing might be fun aswell so I'm undecided in which way my project will go. Currently I'm doing the build just for the enjoyment of finally buiding a car that I can go nuts on  , just doing any mods I can think of and having no limitations, mechanicaly wise.

This is the current state. Hope to hear your suggestions, what would be the best thing to do with it :)

I did some serious bracing on the sills as you can see  , was too rusty to keep the chassis in tact. It's a LWB and I did remove the targa tops so the plan was to make it a slicktop, Oh and I have a VQ30DE engine ready to go there, I kinda like these engines, compact and light.

Thanks for your comments.
Mark.

That would be a lot of work but interesting to see. Sucks to see that so little of the car was able to be saved as well

Oh no, it used to look better when I got it. I just cut the floor pan, firewall and all the unnecessary panels. I'm going to do a new stronger floor and transmission tunnel and ofcoruse additional bracing and a roll cage.

This is how it looked like when I got it, you might see the huge hole on the bottom of the sill.

Well I'm personally a fan of road course so that would be my vote. I wouldn't do a rep car but just build your own z32 how you want. Part of me wishes my car didn't have the history it does just so I could build it how I want. But if you truly want the Steve Millen 76 car then go for it.

Only way I'd support the R390 idea is if it's this variant:

Otherwise I'm all about the IMSA Z32.

Thanks for the opinions guys.

Well I guess I'll go with the IMSA option, might be easier to make the body panels etc and basically it will keep it's originality as a 300zx, sort of.
I'll upload pics of the progress :)
