I started reading up on the 2009 WRX...,, it's pretty nuts. For roughly $26,500 you get something like 265 HP, turbo-charged, AWD, 0 - 60 in 5.2 secs I believe.

Another $10k gets you the STI version,,, but that's comparable to a g37, so that's another story.

But as far as the base WRX vs the 3.5 SE,,, they are right around the same price, but the WRX by all reports is faster and handles better.

what do you guys think? my quest for a 2009 a/c next year is now heading towards the fact that a test drive of the WRX would be in order,,,

yes, if considering a vehicle in the near future, then a wrx is probably slightly more feasible. of course you will hear everyone tell you that you should get what you want, and you should.

mind you, they just upped the hp figures on the 09 model hence in 07-08 (where majority of us alitma owners probably purchased our cars) it was still rated at 224hp. the 09 gets 265. i wouldn't go as far as to say that it has endless potential, but obviously much more than our vq and qr. let us know how the test drive goes.

Go with what you want - if you are interested in .6 seconds shaved off your time, then get the WRX. I personally like the styling and look of the A/C over the WRX, i feel they look hideous. I'm not racing anyone really, so i'm going more for refinement and style points - it's all up to what you really want out of the car.

I agree with marlin, the ac is so sexxy. Isnt the wrx and sti a hatch back. that thing looks gross.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe is also good too. It's kinda like G37 in the front n A/C in the rear. It is around 310 hp for V6.

what i heard the reason was for a hatchback was the better performance in the hatch....with the sedan they could never balance the car like they wanted to, the bigass wing is meant for balancing the car better. But even with the wing, the hatch performs better..so they just got rid of the sedan version.

I was reading about the wrx also, and it can definitely be had for about 25k. You can't beat the standard awd. Its not only faster but it handles better, and looks much better than the last gen wrx. If this were out when I got my A/C or had I known it was so cheap I would've heavily considered it. No doubt the A/C looks better, but there is a lot of potential in the wrx, stock awd, 265hp. You could get a lot out of i/h/e and a tune.

cool, thanks.

Ya there have been a couple cars improved since the a/c was initially released... so next year I will def be test driving the WRX, and maybe a mazdaspeed3 as well,,,, but AWD is looking like a good choice right now.

hyundai genesis coupe is RWD so no thanks. if shopping for RWD than Z would be my personal choice, hehe.

I agree that the sedan format of the 09 wrx is poop. the hatchback version looks kinda funny at first, but somebody told me "it grows on you", and I am really finding that to be true.

yes and a/c does look very nice especially with a body kit.

yay.
