Hi guys, i would like to introduce myself. my name's Evan. I just bought a new altima coupe 2.5s 6mt at the begining of august and i love it. it has a similar feeling to the 87' 300zx i traded in for it and i'm real happy with it. so, why that title? well, i just got back from the drag strip and thought I'd share my results, and maybe get a little feedback! Please keep in mind this is the first time I ever raced!!these are 1/8th mile

first time trial;[email protected]/8th ET-11.221/8th mph- 67.38

I had a bad start, slow on the reaction and i spun my tires through most of 1st gear. the guy(626 mazda?) i was racing tree'd the light got a good jump on me and got about a 1 1/2 cars on me, beat me at the 60ft as well but by then i hooked 2nd and was catching up. I passed him about 1/2 way though and ended up still beating him by .8sec. cool, my first race and a win!!

2nd time trial;reaction- .6660ft- 2.59ET@594ft- 9.891/8 ET- 10.541/8th mph- 69 flat

Ok, this one was a lot better. i got a good start and for the most part didn't spin the tires. Unfortunately there was no chance i was going to beat the guy i was racing this time as he had a hell of a lot more power then me (worked foxbody mustang) and ran a 8.45.

Elimination;ahem.... stalled lol. by by 3$ trophy

all in all i had a great time and i will do it again, hopefully get better times as well, and get that trophy

also, it wasn't 1/4mile because of the conditions, maybe next time

so, what do you guys think?? is a 10.54 a good time in the 1/8th for a 2.5s??

thanks. I'm happy to hear i wasn't too far off, my car is also completely stock. maybe fatter/lighter tires will help keep me from spinning and drop my time a little, I'm not sure about modifying the engine components as i dont want to void any warranties (going to look at warranty details soon), i just want to be careful but really want more power (a bit of a contradiction i guess). ill aim for low 10's then.

i had a 10.09 1/8 mile with tire sping, i probably could of got high 9's. but i will never know, ever since i got headers installed, they spin tires a lot easier off the line!!

if the car wasn't CVT, im sure i would easily get a faster time.

who ever posted up times, is your cars stick or CVT?

Welcome welcome!

I'm glad you chose the Altima Coupe, but you traded in an '87 300ZX?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it.Yah, I was working on restoring it but it was taking to much money, I couldn't afford all it's expenses and another car(cobalt) . but since i liked it a lot i decided that i wanted the 350z or the altima. the Altima was more pratical so it won out (nasty winters here at school i've been told).

My car is stick, i was a little confused about how good my time was being I've roughly timed my 0-60 around 7sec. with little to no spinning. i guess it's because im not fully prepared at the track yet and need pratice. a friend wants to race me now since i told him how i did, he has a 240sx I believe with exaust and such. maybe i'll video it. theres a couple safe areas here in the middle of nowhere

I wanted the 3.5 but cant afford it and the dealership didn't have one, the 2.5 was my limit anyway. and it's fast enough for me for now. i know my 300zx was worth more then what i got for it (worth about 4-5k) but i would probably end up getting less selling privately to be honest. tried selling it over the summer but everyone lowballed me with offers around 2k, at least the dealership gave me a better offer. I decided to take it and just go .
