I have a 1995 Nissan 240sx SE and my front passenger caliper is loose. Even when I tighten down the 2 bolts it is still loose. What part/s do I need to replace? I talked to a guy at a local dealership here but he didn't sound sure of what to order. He stated that I needed a 2 clips for the front passenger caliper which were around 10-12 dollars each. Courtesy Nissan said that I needed a hardware kit for about $ 30.00 that includes shims and the springs for the outer pad edge that holds on to the caliper. I don't know which one to buy since I don't know what the actual part looks or is or why the hell my caliper has play in it.

Thank you in advance for any help.

can you take a snap shot of it and post it. I am not sure what you mean by loose at what point specifically is it loose. the carrier bolts or the caliper pin bolts?

Unfortunately when I left my ex-girlfriend her Sony digicam left with her too...

What I mean by loose is that the whole caliper moves when shaken by hand. All of my other calipers don't move at all. When I turn my wheel to the right... I can see the caliper, grab a hold of it, and shake it to the left and to the right slightly. It's not big but it is getting worse. I don't know what you call the two bolts on the caliper that are supposed to lock down the caliper... but I do know those two bolts are tightened down as much as I can get them. So I guess the pin bolts are out.... someone else told me that there could be a bushing that goes into the caliper before the bolt to hold it down better but I dunno that either.

There are 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the hub, and 2 slide-pin bolts that hold the caliper frame to the caliper body, allowing them to slide together. Make sure all 4 are tight. Calipers do slide, but normally they should not be that loose. It takes a measure of force to get them to open up.

Thanks, I'll check it tonight.
