a quick question about lsd's

I have a zenki S14 and don't know whether or not I have lsd. I've heard the term vlsd used before when describing but have no idea what that means either. help me out here please

easiest way to find out if you have an lsd lesson 1.1 go to a hidden road, push clutch in, rev car to 5grand, release clutch quickly. car will skid. hopefully it left lines, go back and see if you left 1 or 2 lines. 1 line = open, 2 = lsd goodness. go to mates house and leave more lines out the front of his house to make sure.

You really need to search, but because Im nice....

A vlsd will lock the axels at the same speed if one wheel begins to slip, so you can do what rex says(although I dont reccomend launching at 5 grand) or you could look at the diff(it should say Viscous lsd on an orange sticker). or, go to an empty court/circle whatever ya wanna call it, turn the wheel and floor it. You should hear the inside wheel spinning, while the other grips.

first thing i did when i was bringing my silvia home from where i bought it, was stopped at a industrial area, popped a limiter then dumped it.. ope centre installing vlsd on this weekend, and yes, under the lsd is an orange sticker that says " Viscous LSD"

not nessesarily true. open diff's transfer power to wheel of least resistance. its possible for both wheels to have the same amount

yes, very true. I have practiced launching on many level, consistant surfaces and have gotten 2 equal length lines consistantly

on the s14, if you have ABS, you also have a VLSD

im not talking about the surfaces you're on but rather tires. ive seen many many open diff cars spin both tires. a good way to figure out if your car has it is to jack up the rearend of car and spin one wheel. if the other spins in the same direction, you got it. otherwise itll spin the otehr way

or you could jack up the rear and try to spin one tire and go on with the having a mate hold the other side and feel for tension yada yada yada
