Hi guys - Just a quick hello to introduce myself to the forum. I bought a 2009 FX35 today and I LOVE it! I've driven Toyota SUVs for the last 14 years, so this is my first entry into the world of Infiniti.

It has a few issues that I'll need to get serviced in the next week or so:* glove box won't open* steering wheel tilt/telescopic controls don't work* passenger window doesn't work

But I saved thousands by buying used (22k miles) and couldn't be happier.

I look forward to learning a lot from you pros!

Did you buy it with a warranty because if so the dealer can fix those problems. If not then your at the mercy of us (NICO) and the service manual: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM.

Welcome to Nico . The issues you have should be easily addressed by the dealer. The good is that you bought one of the nicest Infiniti products. The FX is beautiful. Hope you enjoy it! I posted pics of a white one in this thread that I think looks real good with the lower black parts painted white:

Thanks for the welcome! I'm hoping that everything is covered under warranty (well within the 4/60). Since I haven't done any DIY since I was in high school, I'm afraid of what other damage I could do to my little beauty!

And yes! I was admiring the white/white FX earlier. I didn't expect it to make so much of a difference, but it is really pretty. Mine is either platinum graphite or umbria twilight, so I don't know if it would show up as nicely.

Lino, painting the bottom black trim pieces to white looks really sharp!!

Would you mind if I asked you how much that cost to have completed?

Thanks,B

Hey J

That's my white FX35 - I purchased it in Sep 09 and could not wait to change the wheels and paint the lower moldings. Attached is a pic of my ride. I researched auto body shops to make sure I found one that would be willing to do it properly (ie remove all the moldings, prime/paint with the highest quality products). I got quotes from $800 to $2300 !! After doing some research on other forums with folks who who have attempted to paint the lower moldings, I found that a auto-body shop that truly knows what they are doing will describe the whole process to you, take about 10 days to complete, and you can expect to pay close to $2K. I ended up paying $1700 along with a lifetime guarantee that the paint will not peel off. Searching for the rims was a entirely different process (and painful), but I'm glad I was able to source out the 21 inch rims. Now I'm happy with the look.
