I've been considering getting one of these but am having trouble finding some key points out. Keep in mind I am only talking about 1G TSi and GSX here....

What is the FW/RW power distribution, with traction and without (if it changes).

What are some of the more major forums? Anything the size of say Prelude Online or say...NICO? ;D

Can the psi be turned up immediatly, how much, etc.

Swaps?

Thanks in advance.

Swaps: None. The so-called "Cyclone" motor is just a 4G63 with a funky intake manifold that's more trouble that it's worth.

Distribution, 50 front, 50 rear, varies with slippage. (Viscous center differential)

MachV motorsports has a good MB, and DSM.org ought to have links to large message boards.

Safe boost: Approx 1 bar. (14.7 psi) don't go higher than that without fuel pump rewire/new fuel pump and injectors.

Don't forget: Your stock boost gauge isnt' a boost gauge it's a giant peice of crap don't rely on it for anything at all whatsoever. Get a real, honest to god boost gauge. :)

Hope that helps. :)

1G DSM's are great cars. I miss my 93 TSi. *sniff!*

The Captain got it all pretty much. :)

The Cyclone intake manifold can be rigged to work using a stock 14b wastegate actuator. It gave a friend of mine 5mph in the quarter and 2 tenths over the stock manifold.

The bigger online forums:

http://www.dsmtalk.comhttp://www.dsmtuners.com

Those have around 17,000-20,000 members each.

My talon ran 13.8 with just a new clutch, air filter, and boost controller (14psi). 13.6 after adding a homemade upper IC pipe, 2G throttle body elbow, and larger turbo outlet elbow. 13.2 after adding a 3" turbo-back exhaust. (it is considerably faster now though)

These cars definitely perform for cheap and they are fun as hell to drive :)

Has anyone ever thought of putting that crazy AWD SR20DET into one? haha. I'm sure it's been done....

They are fun. Mine drives like an overgrown go-cart. I'm wanting to sell it but I aint sure yet. Only thing I dont really like is the space. You can seat 2 with no problems but the back is not made for tall people lol Mine is a Laser RS.

No. Why would you want to replace a 2 liter, iron block, aluminum head, 450-500hp capable 4 cylinder 4G63 that comes in the car with an iron block, aluminum head, 2 liter SR20DET capable of roughly the same?

You could build a hybrid 2.4L motor using the 2.4L SOHC block from various cars including the Hyundai Sonata, Eclipse Spyder and Galant. Just slap on the heads from the 4G63 and you're ready to rock.

It takes a bit more than that, but yes, it is possible. It has been done. In fact, you can even stroke the 2.4 to a 2.7 :)

SR isn't an iron block

as most people as fricken smart as i am know (and im a big genious) all you have to do to put a 4G63 in a 240 is go to a shop with a huge stack of money OR a bunch of hot sex-crazed females (at least that would work for me :D )

If I had a shop. And someone brought me a car. And a motor. And a group of hot sex crazed females. I don't see the incentive to say....not hump til i'm dry instead of installing the engine? :D :D

I have seen a remarkably similar abomination.

It was an old-school M3. Not like, a newer one.

It was...disturbing.

A 4g63 can easily be adapted to RWD. I'd choose a 2.4L stroker over an SR20DET anyday. Hell I'd pick take the 2.0 DSM motor over the SR.
