this may be good for future reference to others but in this case its good to me now. does anybody know how how wide the fenderwells are on an s13? im asking because i want to know if certain wheels are going to fit and how big (if needed) a spacer im going to need to make it flush.

i looked around at tire calculators, wheel offset calculators etc. i got hlaf an answer from the offset calculator (in how much a wheel will be pushed outward with offset/width differences) but the other half i need is going to come in how wide the fenderwell is to begin with. for instance, i need to know that a wheel will be pushed outward say...42mm (with an 8.5 +30) but i also need to know if that 42mm is going to require fender rolling, neg. camber, or if its too much to bother.

this would be good for future reference as people like myself should not have to ask once again "will this wheel fit". they can check the offset calculator, then figure in how much outward the wheel will move. so does anybody know?

if youd simply rather answer my fitment question, im specifically looking at -16x8+22-16x8+30-16x8.5+30some of these offsets seem sucky, but this is all thats offered in16" for this wheel. id prefer the +22's or the 8.5's.these wont be staggered. and tires will be 205/50-215/50. i have FLTA2's and tie rods with no spacers. sorry for the long post.

first of all this should be posted in the wheel/tire/suspension forum. second, why do you want such a wide wheel if you are only going to be putting a 205 or 215 tire on it? i have 17x8s and i have 235/40s. im not sure about how wide the fenders are tho cuz i have a S14

Well.. go take a ruler and measure. To check if something is gonna fit the fender, measure the distance between your stock wheels and the fender, and then use that with the offset calculator.

To make sure you get an accurate measurement, place a 2x4 against the wheel, perpendicular to the ground, and measure against the 2x4. :)

turboka: id like a smaller tire for better response/less sidewall flex. IMO its not even really that much of a stretch. ive seen a handful of people run 215 on 9's (of course thats on a 17 though). if i was doing autox or something id probably use a meatier tire.

crzycav: yeah i figured measuring it would be my last resort. was just wondering if anybody had done this measurement before and could give a quicker more accurate response. now that i think about it...i think it may be better to use one of those plum (sp) things contractors use. thanks for the advice though. hopefully someone has had the same question before

omen: i did a search for 205/50-16 and 215/50-16 tires at tire rack and looked at the specs of those sized tires. i only look at the performance type tires but couldnt find a tire in one of those tires that is suggested to fit a 16" wheel wider than 7.5" you can prolly fit it onto a 16x8 with no problems but id be a little worried about putting it on a 8.5"+ wheel. i think youd be better off just saving some money and getting wheels in a smaller wifth if thats the size tires you are going to run. or atleast talk to a professional about your selection if you are unsure

yeah alot of the guys say tire shops give them sh%$ when asking to mount the 215's on a 9" cause its obviously not recommended. but all you have to do is take it to one of those low budget shops where theyll do anything (of course youd have to make sure they know something about what theyre doing). but the cheapie shops seem to have no problems. i guess the bigger name stores dont want to liability. thanks for the advice though. but instead ill be asking someone who knows some things of drift/ stretching tires (thats not a bash or anything.)
