First let me say I have no beef with admins, i would just like some clarification. My question is, What is the reasoning for moving Altima Coupe specific threads to the sub-categories when something is Coupe Specific and the sub-categories (engine/drivetrain, suspension/wheels, Audio, etc.) are not Coupe specific? Just lately, (in the last couple months) as i'm navigating the forum looking for threads that I just read the day previous, i have to go searching through the other boards just to find the thread because it was moved, yet the thread was Altima Coupe Specific. If you look on the Altima Coupe board right now you'll see the top topics are about Meets, Headers, Turbo's, Body Kits, Wheels and mostly stuff that could be placed somewhere else, but isn't, or hasn't been moved yet even though it's been on the board for 500+ views and is far from being coupe specific.I would just like someone to chime in and tell us why some threads are being moved and not others.and an even better question -why move coupe specific threads and leave non-coupe specific threads.I know the forum is really busy and it would be a full-time job to get all the threads to where they belong, but i also feel if all the threads were where they belong there would be 0 threads in the coupe specific forum due to the past history of threads being moved. Thanks in advance for any response from you guys. I know it's a battle to keep us guys in line and I appreciate your efforts.

I would say the easiest reasoning is perspective. We might have completely different views of what is or is not "coupe specific". Like Grystrm's lighting thread for example. If posted here, I would leave it here. Its on a coupe, the headlight is specifically made for the coupe, it should stay here for the coupe guys to see. However, Tyler or Brian might come behind me and think, "Well, we have a lighting thread, its there for this purpose, Ill move it there to keep everything orderly". To me that is also no harm. The thread is technically a lighting thread, and we have a forum for that reason. Its all in interpretation. We have different views on things, and are in control at the same time. We tend to think on different levels sometimes about the "cleanliness" of this forum. Doesn't make one of us any better or worse, just shows our thoughts are different

This forum is seeing some serious traffic and thread numbers have skyrocketed. For that, I am ecstatic! Wouldn't be like that without each and every one of you!

With this increase in activity that this forum as received since the Coupe release a year ago, we have to provide some sort of organization for the veterans and new guys alike for ease of use. You pose some good questions about what goes where. Just remember, since our forum split we are constantly monitoring whether this will work and what we need to change.

Specific topics that pose a very specific question regarding a subject that fits one of our subforums, goes there. No question about that. If the topic is vehicle specific, then it stays where it was posted. It's tricky determining what SHOULD go where, especially when it may fit in either Coupe or a subforum. Ultimately, myself and Brian make an educated decision on where something should be placed. This decision is based on "what would be easiest" for our users to find. This is especially true when running a search against our forum. If you have topic that your looking for that is in regards to exhaust systems then searching within the performance section would be appropriate to find the best results.

I know this may be frustrating at times but it's all for you guys and the future of this forum. You'll all get used to it, and you'll just have to live with me

Anybody else with any questions or concerns is more than welcome to post in here or email me directly.

i concur with the need to keep the forum neat and tidy...however i also concure with threads relating to the coupe specificaly...and not the sedan...staying here in the coupe specific forum.

However there are areas that do span both models and the need to put then in the general altima forum so our 4 door brethern can benefit is foreseeable..such as doc's radio and sound mods....although his work is built for the coupe...the mechanics and wiring are the same as the sedan...(nissan doesnt make a different wiring and radio set up for the coupe)..and his work should be shared and admired by with both models..

as stated my light project is very coupe specific as the light housing is indigenous to the two door only...althought the process with be applicable to all altis...the look and the item is..."coupey"...

maybe as the coupe gains in generations...there should be broken down areas specifically for the two door (power and drivetrain, electrical, body, etc)...and as people become veterans of the site...the use of it will reflect a more organized space to find specically wanted info....

but for now...most people ..like myself will have "alti coupe first generation" as a link on their browser favorites...and hence land all notes and posts there...

in ansy case thanks for your time and energy guys

If you have a concern like you posted you can contact one of the mods via eMail or IM and they can easily "reverse" the decision. We have positioned the forum for growth and are seeing it, which is why we have as many altima forums as we do. Now, it can get annoying at times and I fully understand. The search function itself on NICO does not work as I hope it will and I had a discussion with the forum developer last week to tell them how it should function. Hopefully they will soon have it working appropriately.
