While checking out some of the past threads about tein coil overs, I found this mentioned by 180fan.

"Basic specsRide height drop F=-1.8in, R=-2.2in.Spring Rate 335/335lbs/inch

FLEX specsRide height drop F=-1.3in, R=-1.6in.Spring Rate 280/224lbs/inch"

How come the spring of the basic is stiffer than the flex?

Can 16 way adjustable dampening make the spring or the coil over stiffer?

i don't know if this answers your question but the damper does control how hard or soft the ride is. my current setup is 32 way adjustable

This is true in that the shock can be adjusted to firm or soft,

BUT

Keep in mind, spring rate is what hurts your back/kidneys.

A shock set to firm slows down the action of the spring more so than soft setting

my intention with the original question was to know why the flex that was for performance driving on track than the basic would be had a softer spring than the basic's.

soft spring on track doesn't make a sense to me...
