ok so ive seen it quite a lot lately, these 240's with their hoods lifted about half an inch to an inch from the back...what is that for? i tryied searching but nothing came up. Is it just suppose to look "cool" or what?

its supposed to help evacuate hot air from the engine bay. some people say it lowers temps. dunno. others do it for that mad jdm tyte look. others do it for clearance issues. most do it for the mad tyte jdm points!!!

lol haha, ok now it makes sense, because one of my bolts on the hinjes fell off so one side looks like that, and i see a bunch of 240's with, so i was wondering... thanks guys

It makes some sort of sense but that small gap wouldn't pull out much air in my opinion, a lot of air resistence is held back from all the volume in the engine bay which is why hood vents are better bets. that's just my opinion though... i could be wrong.
