alright, I JUST bought a super black nissan versa 6 spd (Irrelevant I know) but I really want to get an exhaust system, BUT I don't want it to sound like a lawn-mower or dirt bike (you know how those annoying ones sound as they pass by you) BUT I don't want to spend $500 dollars on one either, any ideas you could throw my way would be a great help....internet links, phone numbers to performance shops, brand names...etc...thanx a lot...

The only people who make a exhaust for the Versa are stillin and Tanabe, they wont help you much in performance because they are only axel backs. Your best bet would be going to a muffler shop, getting a custom cat-back system and any muffler you choose, im sure they can help you find one you want. But i think the tanabe sounds a little ricey Here is the link to what the tanabe sound like: http://versaspeed.com/Blog/9C8....html

you also have to remember, the Versa wasent built for perfomance, its a 1.8L engine not ment to pump out much power. if you want some nice, non ricey sound go for the AEM Cold air intake, i have it installed in my versa and i love it. I dont think anyone has posted a video clip of what the Stillen axel back sounds like but im sure some one will. Hope this helps you decide on what you want done!

EDIT: here is a clip of my versa with the CAI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFh80Uo4WAc

You could use always use any muffler that will fit, like one from magnaflow. Just cut behind the exhaust flange, put on the muffler, get the muffler welded with new hangers. Cheap shops will normally weld for you for about $50. Since you didn't cut off the flange, you can always add a bolt exhaust in the future.

hey proxim, great idea about the magnaflow, i researched them a bit and am really impressed with their product, but you were saying that even though they don't make an exhaust system for my versa, i can still get just the muffler and jerry rig it to my old pipes? if thats the case could you go in a little more detail in what exactly that would entail on my part. also, if i do get JUST the muffler, am i going to lose that great sound that i heard on their website....thanks a bunch for any input you can supply....

Magnaflow really makes a top quality product and I wouldn't think twice about buying one of there mufflers. Install will require you to go to a muffler shop so they can weld it on to your stock pipes (or all new ones, your choice). As far as sound the sound your car makes will be different from the one on their site for the simple fact that your car is different. Piping size, resonators, catalytic converters, engine size, header design all of these things will change the pitch of the exhaust note on a car. All you can really do is try it on and hope for the best unless you can find somebody with the same car as yours that already has your muffler installed.

Justmerging is correct. You'll need to bring it into the shop to have it welded on unless you're going to do it yourself. If money's tight, you could always just use the band clamps to join the 2 pipes. The traditional U clamps seem to pinch the pipes an cause exhaust leaks. There's still a good chance for exhaust leaks with clamps so they shouldn't be used as a permanent fix. Magnaflow sells universal mufflers so you should be able to put anyone on that has the same diameter. I don't know the diameter. Although you may not be able to get the same sound as one from one of their sound clips, you generally can't go wrong with them. You will definitely have a unique exhaust note since the muffler isn't designed specifically for the car. Magnaflow for cars is like Flowmaster is for 8+ cylinder engines.

That's great feedback guys, I really appreciate it. I think I am going to go with the Universal exhaust, but don't want the easy fix, so I'll wait till I get paid first before buying it all together, The Coast guard doesn't pay me enough to do it in one fall swoop lol....thanks again' ya'll, I definetly won't hesitate in the future to ask you guys questions...
