Recently I had some small trouble with the exhaust. The line that goes into the exhaust from the PAIR valve came out and then my car sounded like it was running with an open pipe. On examination I found the loose line and replaced it and tightened it down. Not only does my car sound much better now, a rattle that was previously there is now gone. I guess the line had been loose.
When I was fixing it, I found an exhaust gasket hanging on a lower engine mount that I identified as the gasket between the exhuast pipe and the catalytic converter. I checked both flanges and I am sure that both have their gaskets firmly in place. So either someone had changed the converter and left the old gasket sitting on the engine, or it is a piece of road debris that just happened to get stuck to my car when I had exhaust trouble.
So my question is that I measured the gasket I found and it has a 1.7" inner diameter. Is this size consistent with a stock 1992 240SX with a KA24DE?
