Well mother was getting married. Problem was i live in delaware ,her abilene texas. So i could fly, take train, bus or drive. Ovcourse i decided to drive, my black on black q .Went to shop had fluids done, she checked out ok. 5in the morning i was on my way for my 1600mile trip.About 100 miles in ,i start realising that the 18inch low pro tires werent meant for this drive. Ofcourse wanted to show off.Another 100miles and noticed i was getting 20 miles to the gallon. Well not bad i thought ,20 bucks 100 miles.200 miles in still doing good. Pull in to rest stop, check fluids take a pee break and off again. 200 more miles ,and all of a sudden i hear something slapping against car!Pull over, but cant find problem, pull off and here it again.A fter more searching, left rear tire on inside started unraveling(tread).I mean you could see the metal coming thru!. CRAP!!Go to next rest stop, start making calls .Yes i had spare but wanted new tire .Got lucky 2 exits down another 100+miles was a tire shop. After paying 97bucks was on my way to next rest stop for much needed sleep.after 5hours of rest pull off and notice slight power loss merging onto highway .Next exit got some isoheet and injecter cleaner with my fill up.Baby felt fine for next 200 miles until i hit the dreaded down south heat. Bam hit the ac button aw cool airfeels so ..What the hell she started blowing warm then hot air!!!Next rest stop, popped hood coolent good oil good 2 little fans not running. Crap compressor ,Dam tennessee hot!!Ok windows down gas miles down. Next gas station go to fill up card declined WTF!!Searched2hours for westernunion, waited another 2hours because they sent money to wrong place. Now on my way yea texarkana!!After dodging dear and rats with shells. Baby girl started with the dreaded bounce or hicup at over drive speed. Pulled in to repair shop guy scratched his head and asked what kind of car was that... headed for next repair shop!Yup had the miss injecter went. Crazy cause i ohmed them before i left. Finaly after 3 days of sweating up a storm hit Abilene.Big diffrence than Willmington De or Middletown. One tall building. after a good days rest ohmed injecters. Number 8 went ,easy i thought but it took 2 days to get out in 100degee weather. Had to smash plastic then fish out o-ring. Been here 15days now .Need a good repair shop to fix a/c before i head back. Couple ive been to say there computers down or just dont want to deal with her. good thing i have lots of vacation time.Sofor my trip back.Ill be needing 1 boot for drivers side axle.2 new tires.1 compressor, oil change and plenty of patience!!

Preventative maint and PREVENTATIVE REPAIRS is a hard concept to swallow but with so few Q EXPERT shops around outside of major cities.

List the things that have never been replaced and you will have a clue as to how to spend the next $10,000.

Yes Virginia for any vehicle the period after 120,000 miles and getting to 220,000 can be an experience. That's why depreciation has dropped the value 90%.

Sorry to hear about the rough travels. nothing sucks more than being "away from your stuff" and having troubles. Hope you get things sorted out and make it back safely.

If I read correctly, you replaced 1 - 18" tire for $97 ... I can't think of any $97 - 18" tire that will properly handle the Q's mass?? What brand/model/size was it?

I had fuel injector lower o-ring failure on two seperate occasions early in Q ownership that made me very skiddish about driving the Q further away from home than the 100 mile AAA towing radius. I spent a good percentage of the money that Tech is talking about on preventative maintenance in the first 18 months of ownership and the Q has not let me down since. I've taken many road trips up to 350 miles from home and never had to pull the tool kit out of the trunk yet. You don't see many other 14-18 year old cars with 160,000+ miles cruising the highways and even less that ride or look as nice as the Q.

Good luck in Abilene, or even Austin for that matter.

Can't imagine a 225/40 - 18 (too short, for starters) could possibly meet the OEM specified minimum 95 load rating, especially in the TX summer heat at speed. Please think twice before driving long distance on those tires.
