I guess I never noticed it before, probably because I really hadn't paid close attention, but last night, driving back from St Pete in the dark,I noticed that the clock face on my new (2005) G's dashboard did not light up when I adjusted the ambient lighting.Neither did the ashtray.

This morning I checked the fuses in the driver's wheelwell, and they were all OK.

The question I have--are these things SUPPOSED to light up,or did the engineers over at Nissan decide not to include such luxuries into their luxury sportscar???

A smoker who likes to check the time needs to know...

I think they should both light up. Mine do.

Clock bulb probably went out...it's under warranty. The ashtray shouldn't be illuminated.

Yes, the clock should be lit up as others said. Not sure about an 05G of the actual steps to replace the bulbs...but here's some info on an 03 if it'll help and if your warranty won't cover your situation.

Nope... I was thinking the same thing.

In my '06 my ashtray lights up.

Yes--the ashtray insert has a small translucent "window" built into the back of it.I've seen it on other cars--it's there to allow the ashtray to be lighted at night. It's hard enough to get to it in daylight. At night it's a void, and I always have an ashy mess to clean up.

How do I get to THAT bulb???

I have no repair manual. Is there a G35-specific repair manual available among all the publications that you see in the Auto Supply stores.???

As everyone stated, the clock should be lit (had no idea about my ashtray tho). the dealer charges >$200 to change the clock-- you, of course. can change it out yourself. There's a sticky on G35driver.com, not sure where tho. It took me 20 minutes to do with the right tools. The clock can be pulled out gently and the 2 tiny bulbs changed out. Use plastic tools or a tiny flathead covered with cloth to pull the clock out. Be very gentle. The steps outlines by USAF_GUY are excellently written- clear, concise and to the point. I'd follow this- it's what I did before i knew the steps existed.

Hope this helps
