Dude!!! DUde!

Crap! I get the feeling a possible nightmare coming true.

I recently bought a 1995 S14 with a bad clutch. I thought, hey, I could always replace it. I ended up going with a OEM lighten flywheel and a aftermarket clutch. I decided to reuse the same throwout bearing. I also bleed the clutch system too.

Anyways, I took the car out for a test drive after I did the clutch. The problem was, the clutch pedal was sticking, felt like a slush bucket. I couldn't bare with it so I decided to take it to a friend of mine who worked at the Nissan dealership. He told me it was the clutch master cylinder. I decided on letting one of the techs there do the job for me.

Later on, when i picked up my car, it was running fine. The clutch pedal wasn't smoothe, but it was coming back up. As I was driving the car home, the same problem happened all over again. This time it was worse! The clutch pedal won't come back up at all! Even with a new clutch master cylinder! I had to reach down with my hand to pull the clutch pedal back up just to get the car going, and evern then, my clutch wasn't engaging correctly. I was revving it up to 5000 RPMs and I was moving at a snail's pace. But the time I got back to the service dept. they were already closed. I also noticed a buring smell, like the clutch. Aww crap. What do you people think? I'm going back to the service dept to check it out. This sucks a$$!!

If you were running 5k rpms and barely moving you are damned right that burning smell was the clutch. Hopefully that didn't last long cuz you were abusing the hell out of your new clutch

Yup... I would have parked it right there and had them tow it back... sounds like youjust shortened the life of your brand new clutch.

Anyway... if there's no pressure behind the clutch pedal... then the system isn't sealed or the slave or master cylinder is shot. Are you leaking any fluid from it anywhere?

Just got a brand new master cylinder installed. My brand new clutch isn't even broken in yet, 30 miles on it. Could possibly be the slave cylinder. That smell was probably because there was not pressure to disengage the clutch fork causing the pressure plate to keep the disc on the flywheel as I revved the hell out of it. Damn it, it's a brand new fiber carbon disc. ShiET, the smell was only for a short while, hope I didn't do too much damage.

Do you guys think I bought a lemon?

I doubt you did much damage to your clutch. Anytime you roast it you are shortenting its life span... but it should be fine.

I don't think you've got a lemon... but you might want to reconsider your choice for mechanical advice. Sounds like you bought a master cylinder for no reason.
