Hi, my name is Antony and i've been lurking around these boards for about a year and a half. I've been on a search for a 240sx for about the same amount of time and I MIGHT of found a keeper.

I found a 91 coupe, almost stock for $1700.

Here are some pictures.

The car looks much better in person.

Good: The interior is clean(carpet could use a little cleaning), un-cracked dash, all the lights/ seat belts/ accessories work properly. Recent rebuild( claims to have replaced all gaskets from head to valve cover, new water pump, and thermostat). new battery, brakes, plugs, wires cap rotor, alternator, rear shocks, control arm bushings on pass side rear, and cat converter.

Bad:The only problems that are turning me away is the fact that it has 187k( but he claims he has done a rebuild at 175k), there's a quarter sized rust hole in the passenger side framerail, some rust under the driver side window, and a little rust on the passengers rocker panel. It's going to need a new clutch. Also, as you can see the trunk/rear is going to need some new paint, but that's nothing.

As I stated, i've been looking for almost 2 years for a 240sx. It's hard to find a good deal around here and i'm getting desperate as my eclipse is dieing on me.

My intentions for the 240 was to get it back to excellent health, do suspension mods, then finally go turbo( whether that being KA-T or sr20 depends). For this car I would most likely do sr20, given the high mileage on the KA.

I have about $3500 saved up so far and I want to know what are your opinions on this car. Should I just keep searching or should I finally begin my 240sx project?

Thanks in advance guys.

The rust is the only thing that scares me. The owner said he garaged it in the winter. I was looking very carefully under the car for any more rust. I'm planning on going back out tomorrow and looking at it again with more light with my dad if it's still for sale.

Sounds like too much rust for $1700 where there is a little bit of visible rust theres always more that you can't see till you rip it apart. Does he have the receipts to prove the work done? Offer him $1000 cash then use some money to buy a welder and get practicing

At least it has no sun roof.

Check the usual seals around the glass, inside of trunk lid, spare tire well, passenger floor boards.

You drive it?

Consider finding a clean shell and throwing a motor in it.

The owner is pretty set on $1700 and I did get to drive it and it ran pretty good, but I don't want to get it home and get more rust then what I paid for. I'm just going to keep saving and hopefully find a good one before the end of summer.

I'm more of a hatch guy myself anyways.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Ok, well I might of found a hatch. I'm going to go check it out today, but here are some pics/details.

1993 240sx SE 136k miles for $3500

Mods: TEIN basic full coilovers, New sway bar links, Cold intake, OBX header, N1 dual exhaust , MSD ignition and he said he'll also throw in a new exedy clutch with a bearing and alignment tool.

Bad: Rust on Hatch, but it can easily be fixed.

What do you guys think? I'm going to go check it out in a few hours.

EDIT: Also some 17" wheels, not sure what they are.... maybe you guys know.

I'd do it if that shell is immaculate, but I personally wouldn't pull the trigger at that price.

It does look tempting, but Georgia is a ways away. I don't want to really travel more than 200 miles, but I might have to if I keep finding these rust buckets.

Also, I want to do the sr swap/ build KA-T myself. I want to learn/do everything I can, so I can have the self-pride and sense of accomplishment.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me though. Much appreciated.

Oh yeah, if the 93 is as clean as it appears, how much should I offer him?

I'm not sure if it's a knock off N1 exhaust or an apexi, do the legit apexi's have a logo stamped into them or any other way to distinguish?

Thanks.

what the hell is with the dryer duct intake lol

3500 even sounds a little high for that if the interior is clean and no rust on the underbody I'd probably offer 2500

Patience young grass hopper... When shopping for a s13 you have to be very picky! I got my Perfect condition s13 silvia converted coupe that had a swaped 125k motor for 2,800. It's just not all one color. All you have to do is wait and search...
