I am trying to add more bass flow to my car and maybe help others do the same. On the principal that the less metal and cloth in between the cabin and the trunk makes for more bass getting into the cabin. I have looked on the internet and people have gone as far as taken out the braces in between the trunk and cabin to make for holes that bass from my subs can get through. I was looking at my Q45 and found this:http://marty.fjear.com/Dsc00335.jpghttp ... 0338.jpgmy question to you, if i was to unscrew the circular plate, would it:A: be unsafe?B: Help me at all to reach a louder bass sound? thanks for your time.. any opinions are welcome

I don't think it would be unsafe, and I question how much louder it will get with the plate taken off, but there is only 1 way to find out. Give it a tray, you can always re-apply the plate.

Ditto what MainEvent said - Buy a couple plastic port tubes and mount them in the rear parcel shelf, such that it fires into the rear glass. Remember that bass freqencies are NON-DIRECTIONAL and don't really travel much better with or without openings into the cabin.

Better yet, cut ONE port into the little glove box in the top of the shelf - The lid will conceal the port but still allow enough "thump" through the cabin. Cleeeeeean!

Hey AZ, do you have any pics of your trunk/rear deck/system that you could post?

I haven't actually DONE anything to my Bose system, if that's what you're asking. I was just throwing out ideas.

Andy has a Q now (if you want to see the rear decklid "glove box" that I'm referring to... :D

would i be cutting through metal or just plastic? or in other words, is this a job i can do myself or like something i would get done at a custom shop? thanks for the responces by the way. oh and i took the plate off and i couldnt notice any change. and do i need to buy the port things if i would do the glove box thing.. oh and AZ, since your a police officer, i was wondering, would a normal officer notice that when searching your car? just curious.. im not trying to hide anything.. just seemed like infiniti almost made them on purpose to hide things in.

marty - I'm not a cop.

I don't think most Q owners even know that hatch is there, so I'm pretty certain a non-Q driver would be able to locate it.

I think the "tray" is just plastic, and you could cut it with a hole saw that corresponds to the port tube you decide to use.

I'll be honest with you, I don't think there's any need to modify anything to "increase" the bass in the cabin. Those frequencies are non-directional, and you won't notice much difference (as evidenced by your removal of the "plate".

I'd just take the "tray" out before I'd cut anything.

It would be interesting to see if you could get the door to flap open with the bass??

I drive with one seat folded down, and the subs facing it.

I tired to get rid of rattling (2400watts) that was the only way
