I'm curious if the '94-96 Q's tweeters can be wired into the '92 stereo system.

Is there an inline crossover at the tweeter or is it elsewhere in the system?

At the moment I'm contemplating installing the Eclipse AVN-6600 head unit and using the stock speakers.

Anyone do this before?

There are several threads discussing this. You might want to do a search in here and in the audio forum.

As I remember, you can get the A pillars out of a later model and try to get the interior color to match. The speakers themselves should work on a high pass filter from the OEM Bose speakers.

If you are looking at doing a new deck, I strongly encourage you to replace the speakers as well. Integrating an aftermarket deck and OEM speakers is a bit dicey and probably will not produce the good sounding results you want. I would recommend looking at a set of component seperates (6.5" and 1") from Polk or Infinity to replace the front set.

Yea - I searched the audio forum for Q45 tweeters and found a thread discussing it. Unfortunately I still don't know if the crossover is w/ the tweeter or w/ the door speaker or head unit.

I think I'm going w/ aftermarket w/ the whole system and use the '94-96 a-pillar trim.

Anyone have extra trim pieces in brown? If not brown - I can color match.

If you go aftermarket for whole system, then you don't really need to worry about the crossover location for OEM speaker. New components will come with their own crossover setup.

Keep an eye out on the Infiniti parts forum...maybe post up a request. I know there have been a few 9496 Q's being parted this Spring/Summer.

Let me know how the conversion goes...I am probably going to convert to components up front sometime in the fall.

It's usually with the tweeter on the older Bose type systems. You may also want to check out an aftermarket tweeter like the Boston Acoustics Neo tweeters. They sound great and are far better then the stock tweeter. I believe you can then tap into the speaker level wiring going nyo each door at the door jam or behind the radio without going into the door and running wires through the door jam boot.
