Hey Guys,

I am in the process of re-doing my interior set up as some of you have seen on FaceBook. I am wanting to mount my A/F and Boost gauges in the driver's side A-Pillar but before doing so I was wondering if there is existing wiring or an air bag located there before messing with it.

Things to point out:

1. I do not have the home-link rear view mirror (I've heard the wires run up there for it).
2. I simply need power and ground and the wire colors to make it faster for installation.

If there are no wires in the A-Pillar itself, I know I am wired for 3.5SE mirrors so is there any power and ground wires in behind the mirror corner cover beside the A-Pillar I can use?

Also, a related question, does anyone know if a company makes an after market A-Pillar for our cars? Either 2 - 3 pods? I know it's kinda ricey but it cleans up the interior and gets my gauges out of the vents so I can use the vents again.

Thanks!

The airbag extends about halfway down the A-pillar. I don't recall if there are wires currently running there, but your safest bet would be to run new wires anyway. You can easily fish them up from the driver's footwell with the pillar finisher removed.

I believe that wires for your dome/map light all run through the A pillar as well. Cant remember what the write up was but someone used them to put LEDs in the door handles. Did a quick search but couldnt find what I was looking for.

Hmm probably not the safest bet to put anything on the A-Pillar then. Air bag goes off, then gauges to the face/head. Hrm... going to have to think about that one then.

Thanks for the quick reply.

LOL

I dunno, maybe I'll get a dual pod and put it on the dash or hide the gauges in the glove box or the center console below the stereo.

Does the center console door pop off easy enough?

I was in an accident 7 months after I got my coupe and I dont think that airbag would launch into your face. Its meant to cover the windows, so it erupts and explodes down, if that makes sense. IMO the gauges would blow into the windshield at an angle. I still wouldnt want to risk it though, because gauges to the face might smart a bit...
