Hi, Ive just picked up a 1990 black auto 300zxtt for a bargain price, JDM ofcourse (all the cars are here haha) and ive got afew questions.. ive had a quick search but im new to this forum thing

First off, does having a front mount intwercooler affect the engine and oil cooling systems? like the radiator and oil cooler etc, that would sit behind the front mount if it was installed? anyone had problems? as im looking into putting one on.

Secondly, the car has done 134,000 kilometers, so uhh 80k miles? not to sure. anyway is there anything i need to look out for other than cambelt?

finally, im keeping the stock rims on it for now, choosing to spend the money on audio for now. Considering its a black car and ive seen pictures of stock rims looking good with a custom paintjob, what colour would best suit the black zed? im thinking a dark bronze or charcoal? hmmm

Sorry for the questions, after reading the forum you guys seem to have more knowledge than the locals here haha, would be grateful for any help. one more thing... the difference between jdm and usdm seems to be minimal, what are they exactly? ill get some pics up when i can.

most of the differences are cosmetic I believe. diff. headlights/signals/tails, bumper, rhd. etc etc.

I've heard a few complaints about the front mounts casusing hotter running temps, if you go this route you'll likely want to have at the very least an upgraded aluminum radiator, and be sure all you're dusting up to the I/C and radiator are in good shape and sealed, if the air can go around instead of through it will and you'll run hot, this is a mistake I see a lot, but there are a lot of well done high hp cars running front mounts with success

and when you do the timing belt< I'd recomend the tensioner, tensioner stud, water pump and thermostat all at the same time, might as well do it now while you've got it apart

personally I think dark wheels on a dark car look kinda cheap, but thats my taste, I think the chrome stockers look hawt on a black car, or just clean painted stockers

asn as fro diff in JDM, I think it mostly just the lighting, and airdam, other than that they are pretty much the same, maybe different ECU for higher octane fuel?

Sweet, thanks for the info there, looks like ill go down the twin sidemounts then.

the fuel over here ranges from 91 to 98 octane, thats quite high octane compared to the U.S for example?

here it can vary state to state, we get 93 here in KY and I heard CA was limited to 91?the stock I/C's are good to about 400whp, so if you're not gonna upgrade the turbo's the stockers shoud do the job for now

Yeah here in WI the octane is usually 92-93 for premium.

Anyways I think evil answered all the hard stuff, so

Get an aftermarket alarm if you are packing in audio, no seriously the stock one is garbage and a screwdriver in the door can turn it off. I know in the states glass for the Z runs top dollar.... believe me I know...

Also I prefer the blacked out stock rims with a silver or polished down chrome lip. They are a good way to draw attention away from the fact they are stock rims and at night they look like all the other aftermarket rims with the black and chrome lips.

The Idea is obviously to copy this style of rim, I find it works the best way if you are going to cheap it for now.

Yea ive got a dynatron 5 star alarm in there so the audio will be well protected, and hidden under the darkest tints legal

ive just removed the 2 cats from the ehaust system, getting a couple of new mufflers soon to open it up abit as anew system is abit out of reach, what with the d-class audio setup heading in there soon

cheers for the advice and wise words, and the rim idea is actually really good, hadnt thought of that!

Hi, sorry about stealing the thread. but not sure how to private message on this forum.I am after the flares which you (Collegeboy) has used on his zed. I have been looking for a subtle flare to at least increase the rear wheel arch. I have a 2 seater hardtop, same body as in your piccy Collegeboy. Please contact me here (NICO forum)if there is a facility to pm or email me on [email protected]. I am from NZ, but where there's awill there's a way.
