shipper sent it to the wrong city, but fixed it.. not their fault.

The engine looks really clean.. but there are a couple small issues.. The pulley by the alternator is mashed a bit and will need to be replaced. Also the water neck is smashed as well. The cam sensor is pretty much destroyed.. but they sent a new one in a box along side the engine.. so I give them props for that. Downpipe is still on the motor.. so that's cool.

We didn't pull anything apart yet to really inspect it.. so we'll see more in the next few weeks.

GET THAT KID A WRENCH, STAT!! even if it is just a plastic one.

my nephew was helping me pull parts off one of my ca18's a while back - he was 4.

the kid loves tools and fixing stuff and since i've got him interested in rally racing and monster trucks, he thought it was the coolest thing to help uncle dan (yeah, my real name) work on "race cawr injins". LOL, he doesn't talk very well, but he can turn a wrench pretty darn good.

oh yeah, harbor frieght ftw! i noticed the engine stand

haha, thanks for posting those pics seth, its nice to finally have the thing here, but yeah, japanese star is pretty good, other then that mix up with the shipping and billing address, their customer service is excellent. I ended up being able to talk to the same guy named sam the whole time, and he was always very knowlegdable and helpful.

As for the car, I got a good portion of the parts collected for the silvia front end swap, and of course the sr going in, then some suspension, minor body work, a new paint job, and a conservative body kit and it should be looking pretty hot.

Motor looks pretty clean already... but if you know you're not going to put it in for another month or so, I'd suggest totally going to town cleaning it up between now and then. Remove as many ancilliary components as you can and blast the whole thing with degreaser and water... use lots of bristle brushes and get anal with toothbrushes if need be! Then clean the wiring down and reroute it under the manifold, too. It's a good whole day's worth of work, but that one day will pay off dividends once it all comes together, esp if you're gonna do all that other work to the car... the engine will look new and match the new bodykit and new paint, etc...

We swapped it this weekend..

Still have a few loose ends to finish before firing it up.. (IC piping, lower engine wiring harness, radiator hoses, etc...)

Ready to pull the old KA..

KA is out of the car.

Check out that Fidanza 9lb flywheel!

All the guts ripped out of her..

Not sure how many hp this engine puts out??

This one should be good for some HP though!

looks cool w/out a bumper!

Out of curiosity, how heavy is an SR compared to a KA24E? I picked up a borked KA with a 5 spd transmission over the weekend (future 5 spd swap, or maybe I'll just part it...) for real cheap and that shat was damned heavy. I'd think SR would be a bit lighter?

It's quite a bit lighter, theres a good 4-5 inches of wheel gap even after putting the sr in. The springs still need to settle a bit, but even then it'll ride quite a bit higher in the front then with the ka. Crap, add suspension to the list of parts. This hobby is more expensive then crack i think.
