ok kids, here's the deal. I'm new to the forum but I'm an experienced mechanic. I own a 1990 s13 and recently blew up the e motor. I've been plotting my de swap anyways so it didn't hurt to bad. well I have a de motor anyway, actually two but one is good to go other than a little resealing. I'm planning on using my sohc wiring harness and ecu along with all the accessories from the e motor on the de. how is this possible you might ask. simple. I've been studying the cars I've been working on and swapping parts between the two different motors. my alternator brackets from the single cam fit on the de and so does my a/c bracket. it will look like the belt set up on the sohc motor or the frontier's ka24de. the only exception is p/s will have to go because of the different manifolds. most of the plugs are the same on the manifold I'm using (it's from a 92 s13) the iac plugs, oil pressure sending unit, coolant temp sensor and sending unit are all identical the only thing I'll have to wire are the injector plugs and the dizzy. I'll even be able to use the 90's brake booster vaccum line.I'm thinking I won't have the problem with switching tachs like this. this is still a work in progress and I'm sure there will be a snag or two in the swap but so far things are looking promising.

Good luck.

Be sure to do a write up as this might become the new thing in E to DE swaps.

so it's all coming along well. the ka24e a/c bracket bolts up after you remove the p/s bracket off of the de. one of the bolt holes for the p/s bracket touch the a/c bracket but I see no harm in that. It'll run using the factory a/c belt just moved up one slot on the crank pulley. the injector clips still need to be wired in to the e harness but they color match making it a no brainer. It all should work just without p/s I'll know for sure in about an hour. I'll post some pics too

it's all mounted up now. it turns out all the wire colors for the iac controls are the same. I'll have to extend these wires so that'll be handy. it's going to work. I'm almost sure of it.

ran into a snag. mostly money. I still have yet to find a belt for my alt/wp. the belt I got yesterday was too long. I'm going to still drive it to work. it's been sitting too long. write up is coming soon.

PICS PICS PICS! This is the one that could make you famous son! Do a full write up! The ppl with the older model s-13's who buy them as entry lvl cars would so super benefit from a ka24e-ka24de swap! besides the HP it opens many doors for mods and such as well. Good work and keep it up sir

the write up is in progress since I've got it running smoothly. I'm going to get some more pics of the different motors before I keep on writing the swap write up. but I promise that it will be a thorough write up with every problem pointed out along with the solutions. the car is running very well and I'm surprised no one has done this before. my tach works and so does my a/c. I only bought a belt and a coupler. the only thing I eliminated was my power steering and I actually like the feel of the car much better. thanks for all the interest and support. I hope to do it justice and I hope no one bites before I'm done with the write up. sry I'm a noob but I've been rocking out a honda for half a decade. thanks kids. I've got a better solution.
