My dad taught me this way before I was old enough to drive. It was a big problem, even way back then.

How are people so oblivious? Perhaps I am just too nosy for my own good, but I am always very aware of my surroundings, and of people coming and going. I also always have my doors locked, a habit I got in when my kids were small.

I must be the only person that takes my keys out of the ignition, puts my wallet and my cell phone in my pocket before I pump gas. I've been doing that ever since I had a car.
I don't do it when I have my significant other in the car but I'm almost always driving alone. If I'm the one sitting shotgun, I lock the doors whenever he goes into the store and I'm hanging out in the car waiting. Common sense, especially in sketchy areas.

Thanks for instilling your NYC-derived-paranoia in me Mom. :bigthumb:

As a year-round full-time convertible driver I'm exceedingly alert and aware of my surroundings.

In the suburbs, however, I'll leave my phone in the center console. Verizon recently gave me a $16 trade-in appraisal for my Samsung Galaxy. I never carry expensive electronics and I have everything set for a remote wipe in case it gets stolen.

If you take my phone you're probably doing me a favor.

All my cars are too damn small to NOT notice if someone is entering them.

You're not the only one, I do the same stuff. Then again I grew up near NYC.

Reminds me of a TV show.

Also, I caught someone attempting this just the other day and smacked em with the back of my snow shovel.
