Nissan is introducing a newly designed CVT transmission for the 2.0-3.5L line-up, first released in the 2013 Altima. While experts agree that it is not AS sluggish, I derived from the article that the driving experience is probably still less than stellar. Fuel economy gains are supposed to be significant, which is great, but what about the driving experience?

If its related to the article they released earlier today, the new CVT is only supposed to offer as much as a 10% gain. If that's the case, then that's not very significant in any of their models. I can gain 10% fuel economy by doing some minor modifications and tweaks, then I wouldn't have to be stuck with their crappy CVTs.

That's what manual mode is for.

Spirited driving = manual "shifting"

Highway driving = CVT no shifts!

If CVT is sluggish slap it into manual mode; it automatically downshifts, assuming you want to make a pass or something.

CVT should be slapped in the face.
