It has been a while since I last updated the progress of my car. Things are coming along nicely, but I am taking my time so I dont get the attention of my soon to be ex wife. (she still believes I crushed the 89 and sold everything). I have pulled and sold the KA-T to a friend for $600. I have re-gasketed the SR, removed, cleaned and repainted the block and installed new valve seals in the head. The chassis which is at a different friends house has finally got my Tien's installed at all 4 corners, the complete front end has been swapped for a modified subframe to lower the power steering racks center, modified steering knuckles, re worked power steering rack with power steering cooler, hand made power brace and Wicked tie rods, (this car will be capable of some serious angle). All energy bushings have been installed up front. I have also installed a new braided clutch line and my Stop-tech brake kit (not big brakes, just modified stockers, but this set-up has saved my butt on the track). Now onto the few pics I managed to get on my phone while working

Just picked and ordered up the last of the pieces to finish up this portion of the project. I purchased a ISIS cold pipe for the ISIS intake manifold, new Autometer water temp gauge, I ordered new OEM flywheel bolts, OEM head to manifold nuts and yokes, OEM rubber transmission boot (no more leaks near the shifter, and some Aki project transmission, starter bolts and washer combo. Should be installing my Sr this weekend along with the transmission and wiring for the transmission. I am heavily considering upgrading to a wiring specialties s13sr wiring harness so I can get a real clean look. :chuckle:

So I open my mail box today and all the way from california in 2 business days is my package from Frsport. This is great Im thinking, the package is totally here quicker then I would have thought. I open it, find everytrhing except my flywheel bolts, called over there and they were very helpful. They are shipping my bolts durring tomorrows business hours, because their last order already went out. They are also paying for the shipping of the accidentally shipped manifold studs back to them. Im really needing these flywheel bolts, it is putting the brakes on my final assembly of the engine and transmission guess i will be installing it into my car next weekend. On the other hand I now have all my parts in the trunk of my Altima so I can bring them to where I keep my car. Hopefully I dont have anymore surprises, its been a year almost since I started this motor, I miss boost horribly.

I have just about replaced all the hardware on the engine for new OEM or equivalent parts. I ordered a new OEM throttle body gasket and OEM clutch pressure plate bolts. I installed my new exhaust manifold hardware, reclocked my turbo, installed new turbo flange bolts and OEM locking tabs. I have to make a new turbo coolant feed line, because when I removed the broken earls fitting the braiding on the line frayed making me cuss multiple times. :tisk:

Finally got around to delivering my engine to where my car was being stored so it could be installed. I cleaned and re gasket-ed the transmission after swapping the bell housing. My friend Ben and I also managed to get the engine sitting in the bay with some of the inter-cooler pipes on. I still need to wire it up, install the drive shaft, and bolt up all the other B.S.

If you have the metal lines on a S13 power steering rack, SELL them to me please. I damaged one during installation of the engine. I also gave away my spare lines last week :frown:

I haven't had much of a chance to update this lately (not that to many people are following anyways), but I have managed to get a little more done. My car is 3hrs south of me so working on it is difficult considering I lost my license due to a good night on Halloween  . I have wired up the engine, installed the radiator, secured transmission and motor mounts and drive shaft, installed my FPR and braided fuel lines with inline pressure gauge. My friend Ben fabbed a real clean throttle cable bracket for me and installed it. I still need to wire my lower harness and gauges up, and insatll my oil-cooler. I also need to purchase a high-flow cat, exhaust D/pipe gasket and Rucas to finish this project for the winter. I will try to get down there soon to take pictures and finish 90% of whats left. Stay tuned

NEW VIDEO ADDED
Well since I got some down time I decided to clean up my Photobucket and create a time line of my 240's progression since I got back into them in 2006. There is tons of pictures so enjoy

It started with a 1989 coupe Ka24e rusty as hell underneath, but a $500 price tag was easy to swing.

Image

I went to the Middle East for a bit and ordered this...
Image

Image

Image

It spun a bearing in #2 cylinder shortly after.. so I decided to do a bullet proof bottom end...

86.5mm 8:5.1 pistons

Oem rod shown, but I ended up using eagle H-beam rods (machinist suggested)

The silvia converted car was driven for 6 months. Due to rust I purchased anoter 89 coupe. The under carriage of this car was beat, but would pass a visual inspection. The deal was to good to pass up, $1400 for the pair...oh yeah it came with a rust free auto 1993 coupe. The 93 was sold 2 days later, lol.

ugly interior, but it had a authentic Sparco seat and rail plus MOMO wheel

beat sr20de, so I ended up yanking it and intalling all the best components from my two remaining cars :ohno:

Drove it around like this for a bit then I picked up a 2871R, DW 740cc's N62 MAF and a Emance tune

did a little of this....I come in @ 4:14 open diff no power steering 1st practice

All was good...then my wife became a Wh0r3. I knew I was getting divorced so I crushed this shell, sold my motor cycle and hid my parts, I wasn't going out like some punk...Oh yeah I got everything she got nothing by the way :lolling:
OOH new wheels somethings happening in top secret at 2 undisclosed locations at this point :naughty:
Image

Started stripping the Old coupe so it could disappear...dont wory I was going to restore it but there was a TON of hidden rot, it just looked nice on the outside :squint:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

All this was done at my buddy Mikes in 1 night. Crap started to hit the fan, so tahts when I decided to crush. It sat for 6 months like this. While the divorce was going on I had liquidated some of my belongings and purchased a 1993 coupe with 120,000 miles. It is rust free with a KA-T that nobody could get running. I ended up keeping this at another friends house. The Ex wife never found out about it, because the only people who knew I had it were the owners of the house :chuckle: During this time I ended up swapping out all the bushings from my 89 with energy components at my apartment, luckily I had kept both complete subframes.
Image

I completed the front subframe and all its components. I then brought all of my parts that I had laying around ( teins, braided clutch line's, stoptech rotors and braided lines, 17 row oil cooler ) to where the 93 was hiding. I swapped out everything I wanted to use from my previous car. This chassis already had a power steering cooler, modified subframe and knuckles, RSR invidia exhaust. on to the pictures again....

Image
Pretty clean KAT..sold after I got it running...needed upgraded fuel pump

well there you go. It's about 90% done just need time and a little bit more money to complete it..maybe by the end of spring lol

Well since the nice weather is now hitting Maine I decided to go to where I store my 240 and do a little more work.
First I installed my new Autometer water temp gauge, S14 drivers seat, and relocated my wide band to the center vent.
Image

Then we decided to remove the Burgandy front end so I could tuck the drivers side wiring and spray the front in a gloss white.
Image

Some of the pieces painted.
Image

Image

My friend Ben stripping the nose.
Image

Running the wiring through the frame
Image

Image

We then proceeded to wet sand the remaining paint with 2000 grit wet sand to remove staining of the paint and peeling clear. It's not finished, but is looking 100% better.
Image

Image

Started mounting the front end.
Image

Image.

Durring the remainder of the time I started getting the SR ready for fluids. I drained the old oil, filled with cheapo oil from walmart to do a flush, then turned it over several times to loosen any shavings that were in there from the head repair. I had found a stripped cam journal bolt after assembly that needed to be tapped and drilled larger. After the engine had been turned over for a bit I drainde the cruddy oil and replaced it with Rotella_T 1540 and a new NAPA oil filter from a 92 sentra se-r.
After the oil change I mounted my power steering cooler, changed the pump and added fluid. I then added valvoline synthetic to my Transmission, which started leaking from the front cover. We dropped the subframe so the transmission would clear the tunnel and repaired that leak. We proceeded to start the SR...but the CAS timing was off causing weak or no spark to some cylinders. After fixing that we let the engine sit over night to clear any gas wash. The next morning she fired up, but injector 2 was stuck, so I removed it and replaced the issue, It now runs pretty good.

After all the mayhem I decided to in stall my oil cooler set up. I made an Aluminum bracket to hold it to the radiator, cut and ran my braided lines. The cooler is mounted where it is because my hood is creased due to being outside under snow all winter, so we are just going to add either a WRX vent or something else in to allow good flow, plus it keeps it from getting damaged easily.
Image
it looks crooked, but its the camera, im using my old cell phone. The cooler sits pretty nice right now.

Random pic of how it sits as of easter sunday 2011

Thanks. The intercooler set up is going to change, but I need to modify a few things first. I still need a vent in the hood to even get air flow if it stays in that location, or I could modify my intercooler piping (which I dont want to do) and locate the the cooler in front of the drivers front tire.

Added a S14 rear and front seats this last week...now onto the pics :chuckle:

rest of the interior

the rear seat was pretty straight forward, just remove the old seat, install the s14 lower first using washers and self tappers to secure it to the chassis. The upper requires you to remove the latches from the back of the car and move them to where they are usable (you need to grind down the tabs first then drill new holes and secure with bolts, nuts and washers)...eventually I need to make the lower brackets so it can be flip down like stock.
